Beautifully presented and utterly charming, The Railings is ideally situated close to the town centre and is the perfect choice for both couples and families alike.  This Grade II listed cottage boasts many character features including restored sash windows and shutters, high ceilings, and a cosy wood-burner.  The open plan kitchen dining room is ideal for coming together after a day out exploring and leads directly out to the fully enclosed pretty garden to the rear. There is a spacious yet cosy lounge with sumptuous ‘L’ shape sofa, perfect for snuggling up on during the colder months. On the first floor there are 2 spacious double bedrooms, a lovely single bedroom and a stylish and contemporary family bathroom.

Guest can stroll into the town centre to explore the interesting shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and the pretty Embankment which runs alongside the estuary. The town also enjoys a cinema and a fine leisure centre with indoor swimming pool and for everyday amenities there are also two supermarkets to choose from.  

The popular seaside destinations of Salcombe, Hope Cove and Thurlestone are all also nearby (approx. a 15-minute drive) and for walkers the South West Coastal Path and Dartmoor are also within easy reach.

Front door to entrance hall. Lounge with sash windows and shutters, wood-burner, ‘L’ shape sofa, armchair, and smart TV with Sky.  Open plan kitchen/diner with door to rear garden and appliances including gas hob, electric oven, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and microwave. Stairs rise from the entrance hall to the first floor. Bedroom One with 5ft king size bed. Bedroom Two with 6ft zip link beds (will be made up as a super king unless specified otherwise at the time of booking). Bedroom Three with 3ft single bed. Family bathroom with walk in shower, bath with hand-held shower attachment, heated towel rail, basin and WC.

To the rear of the property is a fully enclosed courtyard garden on two levels. The lower level, accessed via the kitchen door provides a nice sheltered space to sit out.  11 steps (caution, slightly uneven and could be slippery when wet) lead up to another courtyard area, enclosed by a beautiful old stone wall with planted borders and a picnic table with side benches to seat 6.

  • Included: Bed linen and towels (guests are required to provide their own beach/dog towels). Water, Electricity, mains gas central heating.  Travel cot, high chair, and freestanding folding metal dog guard.  A complimentary basket of logs is provided on arrival.
  • Internet and Telephone: Wi-Fi available free of charge. Regret, No landline telephone available. Mobile reception generally good with 4G widely available but please check with your provider prior to booking.
  • Pets: One well behaved dog welcome. Please note dogs are not permitted upstairs or on the furniture. Dog charge £30.00 per week.

Various shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs available in Kingsbridge within walking distance (approx. 300m).  Nearest beaches – Bantham and South Milton Sands (both approx. 5 miles).

Hi, my name is Emma and as the property manager who looks after The Railings, I would like to mention some of the reasons why I think you’ll love this property, joining us for the 2019 season. First of all, the property is ideally located just a few minutes’ walk from everything you could need - shops, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, a leisure centre with indoor pool and even a cinema. The stunning South Hams beaches are also within easy reach, as is the South West Coast Path for the walkers amongst you. The house itself is utterly charming and from the minute I first visited, I fell in love with the restored sash windows and shutters, the exposed stonework in the spacious family bathroom, the open plan kitchen diner and the wood-burner in the cosy lounge. The fully enclosed rear garden provides the perfect spot to dine alfresco and is a lovely sheltered suntrap. The owners of the cottage also provide a parking permit, valid in most South Hams car parks, the closest of which is located just 100 metres from the cottage. The Railings is a special property which is sure to appeal to couples, friends and families, no matter what time of year!
