The Toll House is a delightful red-brick, period cottage that has been recently refurbished to create a charming family holiday home only ten minutes level walk from the famous fossil beach in the seaside village of Charmouth. Charmouth has a small selection of shops and a post office as well as a couple of pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre on the seafront provides a wealth of information about local geology and fossil collecting. The village is also a great location for walkers; the South West Coast footpath and a network of inland footpaths can allow visitors to explore the stunning West Dorset coast and countryside. There are also regular bus routes running through the village along the Jurassic coast. The Toll House is adjacent to the site of the large and popular outdoor Charmouth Market (Whitsun Monday until end of September) and also the site of the local traveling fairground, resident from mid July to mid August. The fairground operates daily from 7pm until 10pm for the first five weeks of the main school summer holidays only.
The Toll House, as its name suggests, is closely tied to the history of the village, being one of a series of toll houses that stood along the route of the Great Western Turnpike dating from the 1700's. Now fully refurbished with a modern kitchen, bathroom and separate shower room, this two-bedroom cottage provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for families or couples. There is a large garden with lawn and children's play area and off-road parking for two cars. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Ground floor: Lounge with TV/DVD and woodburner. Kitchen with gas cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Separate dining room. Utility area with washing machine and small freezer. Shower room with shower cubicle and WC. First floor: Bedroom 1 - double bed. Bedrooom 2 - twin beds. Bathroom with bath and WC.
Large enclosed garden (with some steps), lawn, shrubs, fruit trees, picnic bench, park bench seating and children's play equipment.
Off road parking for two medium sized cars.

Not a lot of channels on the tv and could do with more secure locks on the doors apart from that all excellent .
Pity WIFI would not connect for any of our devices. But still enjoyed our stay ,the unexpected sunshine was a bonus

This was an ideal property to stay in. Beautifully decorated and fitted out, it had all the equipment I needed in the kitchen (often a problem in other rented cottages!). A lovely sunny, enclosed garden which we, and the two dogs, thoroughly enjoyed. And it is only a short walk from the shops and Charmouth's lovely beach. I can't fault it.
Well laid out every thing you need for a fantastic holiday homemade cake on arrival even treats left for the doggies well recommended fantastic clean wonderful garden and just all round wonderful would use again many thanks
The Toll house in Charmouth is the perfect location , ideal location to visit the Dorset area. Cottage is well appointed a home from home and the owners are very helpfull. I cannot recommend this cottage enough
Toll House has a very secure private garden, is located within ease access to the beach and cliff walks. The accommodation is very homely, spacious and comfortable.
This was our second visit to the Toll House. It is a lovely property. Very comfortable and well equipped. Lovely secure garden for our dogs. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. The lemon drizzle cake was gorgeous and a very nice touch to welcome us. Easy walking distance to the 2 local pubs which are dog friendly. I would recommend this property for a very relaxed holiday.
This is a beautiful cottage. A real home from home with all the facilities you could want. Ideal for dogs as the garden is very secure. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach. Our second time here and will definitely be visiting again in the future. Highly recommended.

This was a excellent experience as we have never been to charmouth before, the shops where local and so was the beach we will in the near future be booking to stay hopefully at Sharon and Trevor's fantastic 'Tollhouse' and maybe bring our well behaved dog, Thank you so very much for everything it was like home from home xx Phil & Mandi
