Tucked down a quiet leafy lane on the edge of West Alvington village is this charming, cosy end of terrace 18th century South Devon holiday cottage. Situated a short distance from Kingsbridge and within 10 minutes drive of Salcombe, this cottage provides quick access to all that is best in the South Hams, with good sandy beaches, rocky cliffs and wonderful walks all close to hand. Valley Cottage is cosy, simply furnished, comfortable and welcoming and provides an excellent base from which to explore the area. The friendly and popular Ring O'Bells pub and new village shop are just a short walk from this pretty property.

For larger groups (up to 11 people) you can book this property along with Cob Cottage which is located next door (availability permitting).


A railed ramp leads up from the lane to the front door that opens directly into the sitting room. Comfortably furnished with sofa, 2 chairs, window seat, TV/video/DVD, CD/stereo, selection of videos and DVDs, board games and with wood burner set in a feature stone hearth. Curtained archway into small dining area with pine table and built-in padded seating for 6. Door to beautifully fitted kitchen with oak laminate floor, electric hobs, dishwasher, fridge/freezer (please note there is no microwave), butchers trolley, access to rear lobby for boots and coats, tumble dryer, washing machine and door to garden. Carpeted stairs to small landing. Bedroom One with with 5ft bed, fitted cupboards, radio, small TV, DVD player and hair dryer. Bedroom Two with 3ft bunk beds, fitted cupboard, radio/CD/cassette player and window seat. Bedroom Three with 2ft 6in bunk beds. Contemporary Bathroom with bath, electric shower over, basin and WC.

A few steps up from the ramp to the garden gate leads to the raised, enclosed garden area with country views through trees to neighbouring fields. A terrace has table with 8 chairs. There is a Weber barbecue and on the raised decking there is a rattan sofa, chiminea, two rattan arm chairs, a coffee table and garden bench.

On road parking for one small/medium car approximately 50 yards up the lane from the cottage.  Extra parking for large or additional cars available in village car park which is approximately 250 yards away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and property was excellent value as a late booking. Our only gripe was that the oven pan and grill had not been cleaned prior to our visit - but not a problem for us as just did it ourselves. Overall the property was very clean and tidy.

Despite the lack of a microwave we did enjoy our stay & would recommend the cottage.
