It is a wonderful location, we would not hesitate in staying there again.
I loved our stay - it was so very peaceful and quiet although there were things to do within the village on almost every day. The restaurant was near enough to be convenient but not intrusive. The rooms were sunny and light and the décor was light but not so neutral that you had to worry about the children making a mess.
This is a fantastic cottage offering everything you could possibly want. Aptly named Waters Edge, the cottage is set on the banks of the River Dart and the location couldn't have been more beautiful - with floor to ceiling windows in nearly every room we felt like we were floating on the water. As an old fisherman's cottage Waters Edge is over flowing with charm - it is tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable with an open plan, and spacious living area (and v well equipped kitchen!), peaceful bedrooms and spa-like bathrooms. The cottage is brilliantly located in Stoke Gabriel, a lovely, friendly little community in the heart of Devon. On the doorstep is the village shop, post office and a couple of local pubs, as well as the fantastic River Shack restaurant, which is a must. Drive just around the corner and you can take a boat trip down the River Dart, visit the beach at Slapton Sands, shop in Totnes and/or take the steam train along the coast from Kingswear to Paignton. Equally we often just sat outside the cottage enjoying the sun and quietly watching the world go by…it was absolute bliss! We had a great time in Stoke Gabriel and would definitely recommend Waters Edge to anyone!
