The Wheel House is a beautiful barn conversion set in wonderful countryside only a short drive from the magnificent Jurassic coast of East Devon and West Dorset. This is one of three holiday properties recently refurbished by the owners of this working dairy farm just a few miles from the village of Colyton near the Dorset/Devon border and only about 20 minutes drive from Lyme Regis.The farm is surrounded by lush countryside and overlooks a peaceful rural valley. For those wanting to experience a working farm at first hand the owners are happy to arrange a visit to the milking parlour. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking and the beautiful coast, famous for its fossil beaches is just 5 miles away.
The property, which is all on one level, has been lovingly refurbished to provide spacious and stylish, high quality holiday accommodation in a truly idyllic rural setting. Up to six guests are comfortably accommodated in the bedrooms; a king size with en suite shower room, a double with en suite shower room and a twin room with a separate family bathroom. Two additional guests can be accommodated on a quality double sofa bed in a curtained area of the main living room (maximum occupancy 8 - please request if required when booking). All the rooms enjoy stunning, panoramic views across the valley. The delightful open-plan living space includes French windows that lead onto a private, south-facing terrace. The history of the property has been cleverly captured by a window set into the floor to display the original farm 'turbine' that was used to drive the farm's milling equipment in the last century. A large open garden area (enclosed by a fence to prevent children and dogs from wandering unsupervised) also includes access to a tarmac tennis court. Use of a games barn across the courtyard includes table tennis, table football and a full size snooker table. A cosy wood burner and environmentally-friendly under floor heating make this a great choice for out-of-season breaks too. This property has recently received a prestigious VisitEngland 4 Star Gold Award for quality of accommodation and customer service.
