White Horses is a handsome, detached 19th Century property set in the beautiful South Devon village of Bantham, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Situated just a stone’s throw from the long sandy beach - a surfer’s paradise, and the iconic Burgh Island, this much loved holiday home offers flexible accommodation for large groups or families and provides a fabulous base from which to enjoy this stunning location any time of year.

Immersed in the village, with stunning coastal views from many of the rooms, there is simply no better place to relax and unwind than here, beside the sea, at White Horses.

Please note: 1)  There is a secluded lodge tucked privately behind the property, occasionally visited by one of the owners. 2) The studio below is adjacent to the boiler room with water pump serving the whole house (pump operating noise can be heard at times)  The steps to the studio are unlevel stone steps and great care should be taken. Not suitable for those with walking difficulties or infirm. 3) The property will accommodate up to 17 guests utilising 2 fold-up beds, please indicate where these are required when booking. 

Accommodation: Approached from a gravel driveway, level access into the large lobby. Extensive kitchen, beautifully fitted with breakfast bar and huge dining area to seat 18 with fabulous views from the concertina patio doors across the verandah and gardens towards the sea. Steps lead down from the kitchen diner to a comfortable lounge with corner sofas, log burner and large wide screen television with Sky TV, books and games. The lobby leads to the ground floor separable accommodation area of Butter Bay. Open plan kitchen – living area with dining table to seat 4, 4ft 6 inch sofa bed, flat screen TV and galley kitchen equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher. Bedroom 1: Double bedroom with 4ft 6 inch bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers. Shower room with WC and hand basin. A door in the hall way leads directly from Butter Bay out to the garden path.

From the main lobby is the slate-tiled twin-shower wet room and laundry area with washing machine and tumble drier, drying racks for wet suits and sports equipment. There is also access to the rear of the property, so ideal for hosing down dogs and youngsters after a day at the beach

First Floor: Glass-panelled staircase leads up to the separable area of Island View with lounge and balcony overlooking Burgh Island, flat screen TV, bookshelves, 4ft 6inch sofa bed and armchair. Separate kitchenette with dining table to seat 4, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, door to rear access steps. Master bedroom with sea views, 5ft king size double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. En suite bathroom with bath and shower over, heated towel rail, WC and basin. Bedroom 3: Sea facing, with 6ft superking bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, superb views and steps leading up to the balcony overlooking the garden. Bedroom 4: Bunk bedroom with 4ft double on the lower bunk and 3ft single on the upper bunk, chest of drawers. Family bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and basin. The second separable area is River View, which benefits from an open plan kitchen and living room, dining area for two, sofa, flat screen TV and river views. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave, and a door leads directly to the rear wooden patio area and spiral staircase. Bedroom 5 with 5ft king size double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. En suite shower room with basin and WC. Finally, Bedroom 6 which is located in the Under Folly studio and accessed externally from the rear of the property only, provides a kitchenette with oven, hob and microwave, dining area for two and door immediately out to the garden path. The Studio living room has a 4ft 6 inch double bed, chest of drawers and hanging hooks. Off a small lobby area for coats, boiler room with water pump serving the whole house (pump operating noise can be heard at times) .Shower room with WC and basin. Please note - the steps to the studio are unlevel stone steps and great care should be taken. Not suitable for those with walking difficulties or infirm.

Outside: Large lawn edged with shrubs, the gardens extend down from the lawn to paths running amongst landscaped shrubs leading down towards the river’s edge.

We had an amazing weekend, lots of fun, the kitchen / dining room was great & the views are to die for, the cleaning team had done a great job & our welcome / apology hamper was very lovely. Would highly recommend the Sloop inn & The Village in as well as the area
