Ponies-autumn

The colours of autumn are indeed spectacular; the trees vibrant with red and amber hues, the rolling umber fields fresh from the farmer’s plough, the sun-bright mornings glinting off the dew; all around us nature is busy preparing for the coming of winter.

“And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;

  Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft

  The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft,

    And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.”         – ‘To Autumn’ by John Keats

With the nights drawing in, it’s time to put on that extra layer and gather in the kindling. If the thought of having a glass of red wine with your feet up by a roaring fire fills you with joy, you’ll be pleased to know that many of our holiday cottages have traditional wood burners all swept and ready for you to hunker down in front of on a chilly, starlit night.

Our endless countryside and coastal walks, from clifftop to green lane, offer both you and your family the most invigorating way to explore the region and take in its natural beauty. Historic market towns and charming coastal fishing villages help characterise this unique part of the British Isles along with its dramatic coastline, ancient woodland and rugged moor.

Whether you’re looking to arrange a romantic couple’s retreat, a gathering of old friends, a family get-together, or a solo escape, Toad Hall Cottages can help. Why not visit our website, tailor-make your ideal half term break and take advantage of our tempting autumn offers.
