Our TOP 10 South West Beaches

4) Hope Cove Beach, South Devon:
Facilities: Car park, pub, shop, café, toilets
Dogs: Allowed on leads at Watchhouse Sands (Inner Hope);
No dogs May to Sept on Mouthwell Sands (Outer Hope)
Lifeguard Cover: Yes, July – Sept on Outer Hope beach

The quaint fishing village of Hope Cove is actually two villages in one; Inner and Outer Hope, and they boast two neighbouring sandy beaches. Once a regular haunt of smugglers, Hope Cove is now favoured by families and holiday makers. There’s a large car park in Outer Hope close to the pub, café, shop and public loos. Both beaches are literally a stone’s throw from here. Dogs are not permitted on Outer Hope beach in the spring and summer months but are allowed on leads on the beach at Inner Hope all year round. Outer Hope’s sandy cove is lifeguarded in peak season and there is plenty of watersport activity here plus some great rock-pooling to be had, so the whole family will be kept busy. If you’re after dramatic sea views, then take the time to venture on to the South West Coast Path giving you the perfect chance to explore the other fantastic beaches along the way to nearby Thurlestone.

Hope Cove has two beautiful dog-friendly beaches

Have the beaches right on your doorstep by staying at The Moorings or try The Barn, at nearby Galmpton.

We hope our Top 10 is encouraging you to explore the West Country. With just 3 left to go, can you guess which beach will make our top spot?
