Our TOP 10 South West Beaches

9) Beesands Beach, South Devon:
Facilities: Car park, toilets, café, pub
Dogs: Allowed, no restrictions
Lifeguard Cover: None

Beesands is a long shingle beach in the beautiful Start Bay area of South Devon. With plenty of parking and easy access on to the beach, there’s rarely a problem finding some space here. At one end you have the village of Beesands which has a cafe serving and selling freshly caught shellfish. There is also the village pub, which claims that Keith Richards and Mick Jagger (of Rolling Stones fame) gave their first ever public performance here as teenagers!

The beach is popular with anglers as well as families and dog walkers. Dogs are welcome all year round and there is a fenced play area for children close to the beach. You can join the footpath at one end of the beach to reach the neighbouring village of Torcross, or at the other end, visit Hallsands and take a look at the remains of the old village which was reclaimed by the sea during a terrible storm in 1917. Beesands is a very relaxed beach enjoyed by both locals and holiday makers all year round, so we’re sure you’ll enjoy it here.
