The coastal village of Torcross lies between a freshwater lagoon, Slapton Ley, and a long stretch of single beach, Slapton Sands. The Ley is a cherished nature reserve, popular with wildlife enthusiasts, and the largest freshwater lake in the South West of England. Torcross is placed on the coastal thoroughfare between the market towns of Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The local pub, The Start Bay Inn, dates back to the 14th century and sits right on the seafront with magnificent views of Start Bay. Here, you’ll find some of our loveliest seaside holiday cottages. Old Thatch is a 16th century thatched cottage in the quiet hamlet of Widewell that boasts magnificent views of the bay. Its large farmhouse kitchen, complete with Aga, is a splendid focal point for all the family. On a wooded hillside, looking out towards Monument Reef, is Mandon. This quiet retreat has a fresh and contemporary style, and its spacious open plan makes it ideal for families. It’s also one of our many dog-friendly holiday cottages. Shingle House is a superb seafront cottage with Slapton Sands at its doorstep. Tastefully renovated, and with four generous bedrooms and a large living area, this spacious dwelling is also ideal for families. From here, you can pick up the coast path and enjoy incredible views of the South West peninsula.
