Lee Court, situated in an admirable position, a few steps from the waterfront is conveniently located to enjoy the delights of this historic town. The apartments are situated on the river embankment, a pleasant and relaxing promenade to stroll along to admire the sights of the busy estuary or to select from the many boat trips that depart from the water’s edge. Dartmouth brims with an array of bistros, restaurants, boutiques and specialist shops that line its narrow streets with long flights of winding steps and intriguing medieval buildings. The apartments are within an easy level walk of the town centre.

Apartment 6, located on the second floor (lift available but please note there are 11 steps up from street level to the communal entrance lobby), enjoys an open plan living space with side views towards the River Dart and the Royal Naval College, a bathroom and a comfortable bedroom. The added bonus of an allocated parking space makes this the perfect bolthole for a couple to escape to at any time of the year!

11 steps up to communal entrance door opening in to communal entrance lobby with lift and stairs (please enquire for full access statement). Apartment entrance on second floor. Entrance hall with phone entry system.  Open plan living room. Kitchen area with electric hob, fridge with ice box, built in eye level electric oven and microwave and a breakfast bar with seating for 2. Lounge area with 2 sofas,  Smart TV with Freeview, windows enjoy side views towards the River Dart and embankment. Bathroom with WC, sink, heated towel rail and bath with shower over. Bedroom with 4ft 6 double bed.

There is no outside space, however the Royal Avenue Gardens are just 100 metres from the apartment.

Steeped in maritime history, Dartmouth lies at the mouth of the majestic River Dart. This bustling waterfront town is overlooked by the famous and somewhat imposing Britannia Royal Naval College, just one hint at the town’s historic and strategic importance. Look around and you’ll notice old fortifications on both sides of the river. Bayards Cove Fort, dating from Tudor times is easy to access just a short stroll from the shops, or you can take the passenger ferry up to Dartmouth Castle, which has guarded the narrow entrance to the port for over 600 years, and then walk along the stunning South West Coast Path towards Stoke Fleming and Strete.

Central to Dartmouth is the “boat float”. From here, take time to explore the picturesque network of streets and alleys with their abundance of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. For art lovers, there are numerous galleries and you may even spot the famous artist, Simon Drew, at work. For a hearty brunch, see if you can squeeze onto a shared table in the bustling Café Alf Resco or for a more continental feel, sample the delights of Saveurs French bakery.

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a total novice, a simple must for every visitor is to take to the water. Sailing, kayaking or hopping on a passenger ferry to nearby Totnes, Dittisham or Greenway (once a home of Agatha Christie) will allow you to enjoy this truly idyllic stretch of river. Keep an eye out for wildlife on the way as you may be lucky enough to be accompanied by a friendly seal!

If you’re looking for a day out on the beach, drive along the truly breathtaking coast road to nearby Blackpool Sands (no dogs in high season) and on to Torcross at Slapton Sands, a three and a half mile stretch of beach with a neighbouring freshwater nature reserve, Slapton Ley, which is a haven for bird watchers.

From Dartmouth, you can cross the water to neighbouring Kingswear to walk the Dart Valley Trail towards Greenway, catch the steam railway or take the higher car ferry across for a family day out at Paignton Zoo or Torquay's Living Coasts.

Dartmouth itself literally heaves at the seams during Dartmouth Regatta in late August, but there is also plenty to keep you entertained throughout the rest of the year. And if you prefer simple pleasures, the embankment provides the perfect spot for crabbing. All you need is a bucket, line, net and some bait and it won’t be long before you hear squeals of delight from the whole family!

Picturesque Dartmouth is the ideal holiday cottage location for couples or families looking to enjoy all this lovely coastal town has to offer as soon as they walk out their front door.

Allocated parking space for one narrow car (car parking space is 2.19m wide). Car parking space located to the rear of Lee Court - approx. 55 metres to the communal entrance lobby (11 steps up from street level to lobby) where the lift and stairs are located.

  • Included: Bed linen and towels (guests are required to provide their own beach towels). Water, Electricity, thermostatically controlled electric heating, iron and ironing board and hair dryer.
  • Internet and Telephone: Wi-Fi available free of charge. No landline telephone available however mobile reception is good.
  • Local Facilities:

Shops, pubs, restaurants and the river embankment are all just a minute’s stroll away. Marks and Spencer’s “Simply Food”, Mayors Avenue Garden and Coronation Park are only 100 metres away. There are also two larger supermarkets (Sainsburys and Lidl) on the outskirts of Dartmouth.

July 2021

Enjoyed meals on 2 evenings - the Covid rules changed between one visit and the next which made it more complicated, but staff were doing their best, and we were served promptly.

Staff cocky, rubbish roast dinner, watery gravy, plain boiled veg! Avoid!

Ate here on our last night in Dartmouth and wished we had found it sooner. Excellent meal and good service.

March 2018

We were a party of eight visiting for an evening meal . We booked beforehand and were greeted immediately upon arrival and shown to our table upstairs . The waitress was pleasant and the restaurant was clean, fresh and had a warm friendly atmosphere . We are a picky bunch , but nothing was too much trouble and our waitress ran backwards and forwards to relay information from the kitchen to us . Having made decisions , and ordered we didn't have to wait long . The food arrived quickly , was hot , well presented , and plenty of it . Our waitress checked on us regularly . The food was tasty , fresh and filling , we had steaks , fish pies , pork , fish and chips , a good selection and everyone was happy . We would definitely eat here again . We loved the furnishings , especially the amazing dragons, one of our party was a seven year old little girl who thoroughly enjoyed going on a dragon hunt .

July 2023

2 very good meals here. Had to book as very busy. Good value.

Who would believe that in early October we were sitting on the roof terrace with some of the best fish and chips ever? Really good value.

October 2022

Fabulous, friendly pub - very nice menu and dog friendly

June 2022

Nice friendly pub that allows dogs (always a plus). Prices have increased substantially since pre lockdown visit and whilst the fish and chips where very good the Sunday lunch left a lot to be desired and very poor value at 17.50. Cheaper and better elsewhere.

When visiting Dartmouth we always have at least one lunch here. Warm welcome, food cooked to order and always reliable. The prices are just slightly higher than some other establishments, but here you get real value for your money. Good views of the river and Higher Ferry if you are lucky enough to get a window seat.

Blackpool Sands
Blackpool Sands
(3 miles)

(35)

Between Dartmouth and Slapton, Blackpool Sands is a beautiful shingle bay on the South West Coast Path, surrounded by evergreens and pine trees. It really is a treasure of a beach to visit while you’re in the area. Award-winning, the privately owned, blue flag beach boasts a sense of being in the Mediterranean on a good day in the summer, although a good jumper never goes amiss in this part of the world! You will no doubt not be surprised to hear that it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however it also boasts ample facilities and things to do. There are showers, toilets and disabled facilities, as well as paddle board, kayak and wetsuit hire available for those wishing to earn their visit to The Venus Beach Café, where light bites and refreshments are served. The Venus Shop also sells all the bits and pieces you might want for fun and games on the beach if you have forgotten them or are in need of extra buckets and spades. The water at Blackpool Sands is known for being clean and clear and tested by the Environment Agency, and lifeguards are on hand in the summer (July to September) so there’s every reason to pop in for a dip. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach in the high season (12th March to 30th October) so keep the walking for the cooler months. There is parking available at the beach with seasonal charges, and you can find out more information on those from the Blackpool Sands information line on 01803 771800. This beach is easy to get to and quite literally fun and games for the whole family, as well as a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to take in the view!

August 2023

Did not visit

July 2023

Looks a lovely beach but unfortunately no dogs allowed at all

June 2023

Visited Blackpool sands on our honeymoon 27 years ago and have enjoyed it on both occasions. A lovely clean beach with a very nice restaurant/cafe. We walked to the beach and got the local bus back up to Stoke Fleming.

May 2023

we love this beach always clean good parking clean facilities and good cafe.

September 2022

We did go to this beach, couldn’t go in the sea as it was so rough, was beautiful though. No sand, but still very nice.

September 2022

Beautiful beach; very blue water. It’s more a pebbly rather than a sandy beach, love it all the same. It’s clean and there are lifeguards in the summer months which is when we visited. The toilets were clean and not far from the beach; no queues for the toilet either. Parking can be a bit pricey at £9 for the whole day of you come in the morning but didn’t mind it. You pay less though if you come in the afternoon. The is a little sandpit area for a any kids who want to play in sand

September 2022

It is a really beautiful beach although, despite its name, it is not a sandy beach, however our son and grandson were keen on paddle boarding. They made a special visit for this and were told that the paddleboard facilities were closed but to come the following day when the facilities were still closed! Considering that this was during the height of the holiday season, my son was a bit put out having made two wasted trips.

August 2022

A lovely beach, stunning veiw as you drive down towards it. Very clean with clear water.

August 2022

Lovely clean beach although very quiet. There was a small charge for parking.

April 2022

November 2021

very clean beach and gorgeous setting. good that it didn't allow dogs.

September 2021

September 2021

No sand! Very clean and scenic, but very disappointing if you want to run around on sand

August 2021

Lovely pretty beach with good facilities.

June 2021

Very large shingle beach, charges for parking at a set fee no matter how long your visit. Can pay by card for parking as well as cash.

May 2021

Great beach

November 2020

Lovely sandy beach. Parked here (£2) whilst doing a circular walk and then returned for a walk along the beach.

November 2020

Dogs allowed on beach out of season, a bracing walk with coffee and millionaire shortbread at the cafe to finish.

October 2020

Great beach really beautiful , even in the rain, as the Venus café is right on the beach and is warm, dry and serves great food and drinks at reasonable prices.

October 2019

One of our favourite beaches, in a beautiful setting. Plenty of car parking and plenty of room on the beach, even on a busy day. The sea is clean and clear and the facilities are excellent (nice to have changing rooms). Thoroughly recommend this beach.

October 2019

Beautiful stretch of shingle beach nestled between steep hills at either end. Excellent facilities including one of the best beach cafes we've ever visited.

September 2019

We had a wonderful day at Blackpool sands. A shingle beach within a lovely cove, it was clean and felt safe for the children to swim in the water (which was also sparkling). The beach is privately run, so the carpark fee was a bit stiff (£8 for the day), however the upside of this was a beautifully clean beach with lots of amenities, including rental of SUPs and other water equipment, a great cafe, and really clean loos. On a busy day you would need to arrive before lunchtime, or the carpark will shut, but this also means that the beach didn't feel crowded at all.

September 2019

Parking charge between £3 - £8 depending on time of year, Also food good but e.g. Hawaiian Prawns (£9) consisted of 5 prawns. Not good value for money.

October 2018

Lovely beach, not sandy but the stones are okay. Good food, beverages, coast guards, Nice view and not so cowded

August 2018

Lovely clean beach in super location along coastal road. Great place to visit.

May 2018

Beautiful clean beach with excellent facilities.Clean toilets lovely cafe and shop.Lifeguard on the beach. No dogs allowed.Plenty of parking. We enjoyed rock pooling at the far end of the beach. The owner does a great job.You can also visit Blackpool Sands garden but we did not have time. Also a juggler was there on the day we went great fun for everyone.

August 2017

Beautiful location but shame it a shingle beach and not sandy. Also very disappointed with the £8 fee to park the car .

August 2017

Perfect venue for a sunny day! Secluded beach which is clean and tidy, with a cafe, snack bar and shop, beach equipment hire too

July 2017

The cost of the parking steep

June 2017

May 2017

Elberry Cove
(4 miles)

(1)

Far from the bustling crowds of Paignton and Brixham’s bigger beaches, this small pebbly cove is a truly relaxing spot. The calm waters are great for swimming and are said to have been one of Agatha Christie’s favourite bathing spots. Elberry Cove even features in one of her crime thriller novels, The ABC Murders. This picture-perfect cove, surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides and crystal clear water, can only be accessed by the coast path, with the nearest carpark at Broadsands Beach. From here, it is only a 10 - 15 minute walk, but make sure to pack a picnic or grab a bite to eat at Broadsands Beach before you set off, as there aren’t any facilities at here. Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year.

Lovely quieter beach, dog and BBQ friendly. We had teens that hired kayaks from nearby Broadsands beach and paddled around the coast to meet us. Very accomodating kayak hire and not too expensive.

Broadsands Beach
(4 miles)

In between Brixham and Paignton, this long, sandy beach is a popular spot with families, thanks to its sheltered waters, year-round facilities and easy parking. The Blue Flag beach is perfect for making sandcastles and searching for wildlife in the rockpools. There are toilets, and two places to get ice creams, coffees and soft drinks. What’s more, the car park is right by the beach, so there’s no need to lug your provisions a long way. Behind the pretty row of colourful beach huts, there’s a large grassy area, so don’t forget to pack a ball or rounders bat to keep the whole family entertained. Broadsands Beach is a popular dog walking spot throughout autumn and winter, but there is a seasonal dog ban during the summer months (1st May - 30th September).

St Mary's Bay
(4 miles)

The decent to St Mary’s Bay is one of the best views in Brixham, with panoramic views of the English Riviera. This beautiful, unspoilt beach has a carpark nearby, but we recommend walking there to make the most of the stunning surroundings. The sandy and shingle beach is sheltered by steep cliffs on either side, which means the decent to the beach isn’t easy, especially for those with mobility disabilities. There are no facilities at the beach, but visitors can take the coast path north to Berry Head Nature Reserve, where there is a great café and toilets, as well as stunning coastal views. Dogs are welcome all year, making St Mary’s Bay a great place to take a well-earned rest on your dog walk.

Churston Cove
(5 miles)

If you’re willing to venture off the beaten track, you’ll discover one of Brixham’s hidden gems, Churston Cove. Surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides, this beautiful little cove isn’t the easiest to get to, which makes it an idyllic, peaceful place to while away the day. The crystal clear water is safe for kids to paddle and play in, and is a popular swimming spot. Parking is available at Freshwater carpark, a 15-minute walk away. There are no toilet facilities or cafes, and the beach is accessed via a long, steep path, which is uneven in places, but this beautiful little cove is worth the effort. Churston Cove is dog-friendly all year round.

October 2023

It is ideally placed near all amenities and good parking. Will be staying here again!

October 2023

Very comfortable and quiet. A successful trip all round.

August 2023

Another great stay in Lee Court. Position of flat is good for exploring Dartmouth & surrounding area.

July 2023

We enjoyed our stay very much the property was very comfortable well equipped and convenient for the town ..... .... The only downside was coming back after a day out , to find that someone had parked in our reserved space which was very inconvenient !!

May 2023

Yes, I would recommend Toadhall cottages, it was our first time staying, it was so comfortable and homely. Very good value for money and central to Dartmouth Thank you for a wonderful holiday, would definitely return ??

September 2022

Had a great time, apartment was great..there was some building work on the roof so the rear was scaffolded up,any noise was through the day so this didn’t really affect us..Location etc was good, car parking was ok..so no complaints at all really..many thanks..Jean Dixon

July 2022

We had a fantastic week and would definitely return to Dartmouth. We would book again through Toad Hall Cottages but I don't think we would choose any flat in Lee Court.

May 2022

Really enjoyed the apartment and location for easy of access to amenities. The only thing to point out was that the icebox in the fridge was completely frozen with 2 iceblocks and a bag of ice cubes frozen solid

October 2021

The property was exceptionally brilliant couldn’t ask for better

October 2021

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning to this accommodation. We had a wonderful dinner in Andria and superb Sunday lunch in the Seven Stars pub. Lunch is always excellent in Rockfish. The weather wasn’t good enough for a boat trip but we can experience that on our next visit.

October 2021

Yes enjoyable

September 2021

The apartment was very clean. The decor was a bit old fashioned, lacked a bit of personal touch. However this didn't distract from the cleanliness of the place. Perfect location.

August 2021

Loved the way they had thought of everything you would need

August 2021

We had a wonderful stay and will certainly recommend to family and friends also we will be staying again. If you have anything such as stickers, key rings or coaster we will be more than happy to promote your company. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. Regards Michelle

August 2021

Fantastic week in Lee Court . Location perfect for getting about on a boat, bus or train. Good choice of restaurants. Will defiantly return.

August 2021

Would book again.

July 2021

Ideally suited near the centre, we enjoyed Dartmouth, we've been several times, even with covid restrictions

October 2020

Car Park space was narrow and difficult to access when adjacent spaces were occupied. Might be useful to state parking is at rear of building. Also description might need to explain that belonging have to be walked around the building, not so bad when dry weather, and to avoid too many doors taken up via stairs, 4 flights. I suffered a little as we did take quite a lot of gear and had to make 6+ trips and with a Covid mask on (requirement for communal areas) suffered a little due to my asthma.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at 6 Lee Court. Sorry to read that you might have missed the convenient lift within the Lee Court building that would have taken you from the entrance lobby up to the second floor on which apartment 6 is located on. Nonetheless we look forward to welcoming you back to 6 Lee Court again soon.

- The Toad Hall Team

October 2020

August 2020

The apartment was comfortable and matched the description. Good central location, however, the downside to this is increased noise levels.

July 2020

Very nice flat, plenty of space for storage etc., really enjoyed our stay.

July 2020

We went on 4th July. I thought Toad Hall Cottages’ arrangements for minimising risk were clear and comprehensive which meant we could and did relax. The property was just fine and the location was excellent.

September 2019

A bright and airy flat with a very comfortable bed and comfortable seating in the lounge.

July 2019

The proximity of this property to the Town Centre, Ferries and boats is a real bonus. The lift also makes it really accessible to older/slightly less able guests

July 2019

We were more than happy with our week. Dartmouth is a lovely place to stay with lots to do and fabulous restaurants in abundance. The property is extremely well positioned for everything and is very comfortable. An apartment with front-facing windows would be the only upgrade I would want.

June 2019

The flowers, milk and cake on arrival were a very thoughtful touch

June 2019
