Charmouth is a village and civil parish at the mouth of the River Char in West Dorset. A friendly and traditional countryside village, it is situated at the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, an ancient coastline of dramatic cliffs, fossils and beautiful scenery. The village itself is characterised by West Dorset’s rolling hills and Regency houses, which elegantly line the streets. Charmouth boasts a host of famous visitors and is steeped in history. Toll House is closely tied to the history of the village, being one of a series of (unsurprisingly) toll houses that originally stood along the route of the Great Western Turnpike, dating back to the 1700s. Nearby are The Cottage and Charmouth House both great options for a holiday in Charmouth and just a 10-minute walk from the beach. If you fancy being even closer to the sea however, Seascape is a five-minute walk from the beach and has wonderful sea views.
