Description

Bay Tree Cottage is a very pretty quintessential thatched, Devon cottage dating back to the 17th century, fabulously situated in the very centre of Thurlestone village, a short walk from the village shop and the pub, with the beach being fifteen minutes’ walk away. This picture postcard, light and spacious cottage, which has been sympathetically refurbished using traditional materials and finishes, provides an excellent holiday cottage for a  holiday by the sea and offers modern comforts whilst retaining an abundance of character throughout with low ceilings and exposed beams in some rooms. The garden, which is surprisingly large, is almost completely secluded and is a sheer delight. A warm welcome with complimentary Devonshire Cream Tea awaits you.

We decided to come here for our honeymoon and we are very glad we did.  The cottage is lovely and the village is in a stunning location.” Natalie and Mark S.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bay Tree.  The cottage is superb, full of character and had everything we needed.”  Katie and Richard L.

September 2017

This is a beautiful cottage with bags of character and the garden is stunning!

June 2017

The cottage was very nice and suited us very well. The garden is large and well maintained.

April 2017

The bedding is looking a little tired . I am sure it was clean it just looked a little grey . Also there should be a better Hoover for guests to use. The only one there you have to get on your hands and knees to use as I couldn't change the attachment. This aside the cottage is very quirky and we had a lovely stay.

Many thanks for your feedback. We are sorry you found Henry the Hoover to be a difficult character, but all his attachments are working fine now. We have mentioned your comment regarding the linen to the caretaker to ensure a good standard of linen is maintained. Delighted that you had a lovely stay.

This is the second time we have used Toad Hall Cottages. Both holidays have been a very pleasant experience, wonderful properties.

July 2014

September 2013

The cottage was in an excellent position in the village and it was very well equipped and comfortable. We had a great week, enjoying lots of beach walks and two swims a day for our Labrador. The cottage was warm and cosy, ideal for relaxing on chilly autumn evenings.

September 2013

We had a brilliant holiday - the cottage was lovely beautifully renovated. We brought my mother to Thurlestone to celebrate her 90th birthday, its a special place for us because her father was born there.

August 2013

Bay Tree Cottage is beautiful, we enjoyed our stay in Thurlestone village and the beaches. The cottage has a brilliant big garden with lots of furniture. Inside had everything we needed. We look forward to visiting again.

June 2013

Lovely holiday - we enjoyed this staying in this old, characterful property immensely. Also enjoyed reading the book on the local history with images of Bay Tree Cottage 100+ years ago.
