This attractive, detached, comfortable and practical house with stunning views from most windows will appeal to many. Families who have a yen for a holiday by the sea and birdwatchers too, as this family home is situated on the edge of the beautiful National Nature Reserve at Slapton where a rich variety of bird life can be observed from the edge of the Ley. Fisher folk can try their luck with sea fishing along the glorious three mile stretch of shingle beach. Walkers will love the marvellous treks along the South West coastal path just a few minutes walk from the house. Set well back from the road, Bywater is surrounded by a most attractive garden and is brilliantly placed in one of the most beautiful parts of Devon.

Back door into rear porch. Door into a smart new fitted kitchen with electric hob, eye level grill and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Door into the dining room with dining table to seat 7, this room extends into a conservatory type room with work bench and access to the garden. Arch into comfortable sitting room with sofa, chairs, flame effect electric fire, flatscreen HD TV/DVD and large patio doors to the garden and views to the Ley. Inner hallway with glazed front door and porch. Front bedroom with range of fitted cupboards, Ley views and twin 3ft beds. Rear bedroom with double 4ft 6in bed and fitted cupboards. Bathroom with bath, shower over and basin. Separate cloakroom with WC and basin. Stairs to the top bedroom with a double 4ft 6in bed, fitted cupboard and French door to balcony and fantastic views over the Ley and the sea. Adjacent WC with basin. A further futon chair/single bed is supplied and can be accommodated in any of the bedrooms.  


Lawns with apple trees, shrubs and flower borders extend around the house to the front where there is a patio area provided with garden furniture and has lovely views.

 The gated driveway provides parking for up to 3 cars.

Brilliant accommodation and a lovely holiday. From day one however we constantly had a problem with the television in as much as after a while all the BBC programmes began to "play up". What can only be described as the picture began breaking up like a mosaic of blocks which then froze completely followed by a blank screen with the words no signal. Perhaps you could adjust the aerial slightly in order to pick up a better picture for BBC. Maybe other guests have experienced the same.

It is a good property in a good position for accessing tourist areas along that coastline. The property is on the main road, but was not very busy, but maybe more so in the peak holiday season. The garden is secure for a dog, although a very small dog might get through the gate, and a large dog may jump over the low garden wall. The garden is vey attractive and would be nice to sit out in in warmer weather. The balcony off the upstairs bedroom has lovely views across the Ley and sea beyond, and would be nice to sit on in warmer weathers well. The beds were in good condition and comfortable. It is a short walk around the top of the Ley and along to the coastal footpath. There are two restaurants and a tea room, and a small shop for emergency supplies. There is a farm shop up the road which sold a selection foodstuffs. It is a short drive to Dartmouth, where there are a good variety of shops, supermarkets and boat trips.

We did enjoy our stay. This cottage was perfect for us, lovely view, spacious, warm, excellent location. Nicely furnished but not too 'posh' which we do not want, as this cottage was the right price for us. More like this would be excellent.

Excellent as was the case two years ago. Due to me leaving our portable BBQ at home, we bought one down there,along with coal/firelighters and as had no room in the car, left it there for hopefully use by other occupants. Regards Brendan

Fantastic property. We had a wonderful time and so did our two dogs. Torcross is so dog friendly. Superb location, excellent shop, super pub, good restaurants and lovely walks. Weather was very kind - what more do you need?!

A well equipped spacious cottage in a fantastic location overlooking the beautiful Slapton Ley, then the Sea at Torcross Beach beyond. From the bedroom balcony you can also see the pub on the sea front, a short stroll away. We had fish and chip from there twice, which was very nice! Fantastic being able to walk to the beach in just a few minutes. Cream tea at the Beach cafe and a handy holiday/ general store and gift shop. Cottage offers basic but well equipped holiday accommodation and is comfortable. Good Wifi. The only thing we were missing were BBQ utensils. There is a BBQ though and a beautiful garden to have it in! Good dog property. Our whippet was fine but could have easily jumped the wall as it is low with a main road on other side! Also the dog from next door kept getting in so do check carefully before letting your dog free outside. We would be very happy to holiday in this cottage again.

The property was in a fantastic location close to the sea with excellent walks nearby. It meant that the car did not need to be used everyday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bywater. The location was excellent, great for walking along the coast path, good local pubs within walking distance. The property was larger than we expected with three good sized double bedrooms. Enclosed garden so dog friendly.

Once again we enjoyed our stay at Bywater We have now stayed for a period of eight weeks in all over the last three years Bywater is very central for touring the superb countryside & coastal area of South Hams. We have holidayed in the South Hams for over 2oyears and never fail to be impressed. with its beauty.
