Camac is a lovely beachside holiday cottage, just a few steps from two golden sandy beaches where lazy summer days can be idled away digging sand castles, indulging in serious cream teas, paddling in the rock pools but close enough to nip back ‘home’ to cool off and have a sand-free lunch in the garden! This delightful terraced cottage, originally a pair of coastguard cottages, is tucked below Shippens, the grassy hillock, that divides the beaches of Outer and Inner Hope in the middle of the picturesque seaside fishing village of Hope Cove. This is a wonderful spot at any time of the year.
Please note: Due to the steepness and setup of the stairs the property may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm. Children need to be supervised in the garden due to unfenced boundary leading to cliffs.
Entrance to sitting room with floor tiles, a feature fireplace housing a wood burner and furnished with two large sofas, chairs, TV with video, DVD and plenty of books and games, plus stereo/CD player. Galley style kitchen with pine dresser, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and electric cooker. Steps up and access to rear garden. Door to ‘snug’, a quiet corner with armchair and fireplace (not in use), this room opens into a spacious dining room with slate floor and dining table to seat 8. Downstairs bathroom with bath, shower over and basin. Separate WC. First Floor: Bunk room with 3ft full size bunks and a double room with 5ft king size bed. This room has a connecting door to a second double bedroom with a 4ft 6in wrought iron bedstead, wardrobe and village views. Bunk room with full size 3ft bunks (note: an awkward step into this room from the stairs).
At the rear of the cottage is an unfenced lawned area, with two picnic benches, chairs, charcoal barbecue and low walls on one side. (There are no fenced boundaries between the garden areas of the other cottages). The ground rises and extends on to the higher part of the hillside. This natural area is owned by all the cottages in the row, so is communal and although the views from the top are spectacular, children will need very careful supervision as it is unfenced and the land drops away as a vertical cliff face to the sea below. The front of the cottage has two benches and faces a single track lane, mainly used as a footpath between the beaches.
A very large shared garage is a few steps away where there is designated parking for one car.
- Included: Duvets, pillows (no bed linen or towels), child booster seat, travel cot, initial supply of logs. Heating (night storage) and electricity.
- Pets: Up to 2 well behaved dogs welcome. (Pet charge £25.00 per dog per week. £30.00 from January 2019).

- Local Facilities: Beach on the doorstep. Coastal Path nearby. Pub 100 yards. Shops, restaurant, village P/O and store a minute’s walk. Salcombe 4 miles. Kingsbridge 5 miles.
We had a fantastic stay at Camac, the weather was excellent and the cottage was lovely we had every day on the beach and had a memorable holiday
Lovely location, stunning. Beautiful Cove. Garden not as precarious as described! Cottage needs updating but despite that, it was peaceful and relaxing. Hope Cove is beautiful. Hope and Anchor and The Cove Bar are so close to cottage but no noise ( apart from when England scored!!). We also had lunch in the terrace of the Cottage Hotel... amazing views and lovely food... best cheese salad I’ve ever had. Also SunBay Hotel in Inner Hope... quiet and friendly and away from the hustle and vibe at the other pub and bar. Beach’s fantastic.
Absolutely idyllic , the cottage was superb as is Hope Cove. Second perfect holiday with Toad hall and lucky enough to have beautiful weather both times too.
Really enjoyed it as it is in a great position
Great spot and lovely cottage we may well be back
I would have booked again for the summer if it was not already booked! This is a testament to the location and how very useable the cottage is. We did not want to put any of the previous comments into the visitors book.
Camac Cottage at Hope Cove is a charming olde world sea side location. The many original features kept it close to the history of this special location, I felt it completed the experience keeping it rustic. There are no dividing garden walls at the back but we kept our dogs on the lead for let outs and this did not worry us. The acommodation was warm and the water piping, thankyou for the milk and basic brewing kit. The proximity to the beach is fantastic as our ex guides cannot walk far any more and they deserved the break by the sea and on the sand, we are very appreciative that dog friendly cottages like this are availalble, i am sure that if the Guide Dog for the Blind Association knew the full details thay would appreciate this too. We really enjoyed our stay anmd hope to book again in the new year.
Perfect. Would stay again
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay - house is well equipped and comfortable and the location is fab.
We had a wonderful week in Camac, the location is excellent being so close to the beach and the cottage has good facilities and decor
Yes, loved our stay. Having stayed in Hope Cove many times we knew what to expect location wise. And despite the above minor property issues we were impressed with Camac Cottage, and would be pleased to return to it on subsequent visits. Your manager Adam was most polite and diplomatic when he contacted me regarding our dog too. Thank you Adam.
Location was fantastic and cottage clean and well epuiped, would hapily return in the future
We had a lovely week in Camac, it was better than it appeared in the website and also it is better on the inside than it looks from the outside
