Perhay is a delightful country cottage and has been refurbished by the owner to provide very good quality holiday accommodation in a beautiful rural setting only a few miles drive from the coast and the bustling West Dorset market town of Bridport. Located along a farm track in the small West Dorset hamlet of Waytown, about 5 miles from the coastal fishing harbour of West Bay and just a 10 minute walk from the original River Cottage where Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall`s TV career was first launched. The cottage is set in a small terrace of four former farm cottages in exceptionally beautiful and peaceful countryside. On a clear night the lack of light pollution makes it the perfect spot for star-gazing. The hamlet has a traditional country pub (about 5 minutes walk by footpath from the cottage) and is a haven for walkers with a network of footpaths covering the surrounding countryside. The cottage is just a short drive to the sea and the whole of the stunning West Dorset and East Devon coastline, famous for its Jurassic fossils, is within easy reach. There are many quiet villages to be discovered in the surrounding countryside and Bridport with its shops and cafes is just a few minutes drive away.
The charm and character of the original farm cottage has been retained as part of a sympathetic renovation - there is a flagstone floor downstairs and exposed beams throughout. The attractive master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and enjoys views across miles of open countryside. A second bedroom has 3ft twin beds and there is a third single bedroom allowing the cottage to accommodate up to 5 guests in comfort. The cottage benefits from lovely rural views from most of the rooms and the rear patio (with BBQ and furniture) looks onto open fields. There is also a secure small sunny garden at the front of the house. The cosy wood burner in the lounge will make this cottage a great choice for couples and families all year round and from time to time the friendly owners will have fresh produce from their garden available. Guests are also free to use a nearby field area for picnics.

Very enjoyable break accommodation was good and owner very pleasant but location quite remote for us and it was unfortunate that the local pub had closed so had to drive out for meals. Location was good for our dog and probably better suited for walkers and or people who like to be away from the world
Had a most enjoyable stay and the countryside around West Dorset is beautiful. The cottage has expert planting of shrubs & flowers which made it very attractive in late May. Both front and back garden areas are enclosed, which is handy for dogs, and offer very pleasant areas for sitting outside.
The owner was very nice - lovely little cottage
The owner of the property is so lovely and helpful and made our stay as wonderful as a weekend break could ever be!
A bit off the beaten track but a good comfortable cottage
We enjoyed our stay, with good weather for the time of year a bonus. On the second day of our stay the toaster developed a fault which tripped out part of the electricity supply. A new toaster was provided the same day and no further problems. Miss Mahoney was friendly and helpful at all times. You may recall that we originally booked our stay for Feb/March this year which we had to postpone. Miss Mahoney kindly allowed us to transfer the stay to Oct/Nov at no extra charge, for which we again express our gratitude.
Very cosy cottage and welcoming host
We did enjoy our stay , very much . Some of the furniture is a little dated , but with 2 dogs , at least we did not feel that we had to keep them on a short lead all the time . The last time we booked with you , 2 years ago , there was a dog welcome pack . Nothing this time ? The shower over bath was little more than a trickle , and the en-suite was only suitable for 5'-5" height . Perhaps it would have been better to have had an en-suite loo instead . Overall a good week , but the weather helped !
We had such a perfect week staying at Perhay Cottage. Everything we required was in the cottage including a super comfortable, huge bed! Enclosed gardens for our dogs. Great location for accessing some stunning areas. Lots of beautiful beaches and coastal towns with amazing dog walks. Mandi is very welcoming but not at all intrusive. We would definitely return; didn’t really want to leave!
We had a wonderful time in the cottage, we did have some minor glitches but these were sorted out by the owner very quickly. This is the first time we have booked with Toad Hall Cottages but would use them again should we return to the area.
Lovely cottage, excellent hosts who were so helpful with last minute changes to plan, all in a perfect location. Can’t wait to return.
No, we were very happy with all aspects of our stay and had a lovely holiday
Owners were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Couldn't have been nicer.
Lovely cottage in quiet location.
A very welcoming owner. Couldn’t have been better.
Probably the best cottage we have stayed in, and we have stayed in a few! Perfect location, everything provided and very clean. Lovely host who was so friendly and helpful without being in your face. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Was a wonderful week. Had 2 log fires which was a treat. Mandy was around if you needed her for advice or a chat but not in your face. The pub at the end of the drive The Hare & Hounds served great food, had good ‘specials’ night & did a fab Sunday lunch. Would be a great place to stay in all seasons as loads to do around or wonderful to stay in & snuggle down with a real fire. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
We had a lovely stay in this cottage, Mandy the manager was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was clean and warm when we arrived and great pub down the road. Would definitely go back. Edwina

Yes, a very convenient location and well appointed cottage
Fantastic place in a great location. Mandy, the owner, next door couldn't have been more helpful. It's our 2nd visit there and we will definitely go back.
Excellent stress free break after a very stressful year so far
Perhay was a very well equipped cottage. The owner was very helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Very enjoyable stay. Mandi and Jamie were on hand nearby if required and just let us enjoy the cottage. Very peaceful location. Hare and Hounds pub nearby was great, lovely friendly pub and community who made this holiday stay feel like a home from home. Highly recommended, the cows were great to see too! Thank you
We found the owner extremely welcoming and very accomodating of our dates which fell outside the usual change over days. The location was just stunning. The cottage was a true haven of peace and tranquility, with far reaching views of the countryside, yet with very close access to Bridport and all the amenities of a large town. It was a perfect spot from which to explore many of the local sites of interest and coastline.
Immaculate cottage, very comfortable and lovely friendly owner who couldn't have been more helpful. Cows an added bonus. :)
We had a lovely week in a beautiful cottage so thanks very much.
A beautiful cottage set in a quiet location with everything needed for a week's stay for our family of five. The use of the field was fantastic and we had hours of fun playing badminton and running around outside. If there is nice weather, there are so many beaches and exciting places to visit. The hosts were extremely kind and we felt very at home. The washing machine and washing line were brilliant because the kids were filthy after days at the beach. Thank you.
A most comfortable cottage in beautiful rural Dorset and a most friendly and helpful owner.
Perhay Cottage is a beautiful cottage with excellent facilities & although in the Countryside is a good base for the local towns. The owners who live next door are very friendly & non-intrusive. Good walks over the fields if you are taking a pets. A very enjoyable holiday & I would not hesitate to go back. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to stay in Dorset.
Ideal for our 2 dogs as stone floors throughout ground floor. Stair gate made it easy to contain them to ground floor. secure small garden ideal & sun trap even in march! Access to field to exercise dogs morning and evening without having to go too far. Owner welcoming and around if needed but not intrusive. Very relaxing week!
