Located on the most southerly tip of Devon with wonderful sea views from the garden and most rooms, The Station Officer’s House is a delightful home from home, great for a relaxing family get together or for couples and friends wanting beautiful, peaceful surroundings.  Located at the end of a mews of coastguard cottages, this comfortable, spacious and interesting property looks out to The Channel and surrounding rugged coastline with the amazing South West Coastal Path cutting through the meadow at the end of the garden. This place is a must for those who love dramatic walks with the dogs and getting away from the crowds. 

A large, well equipped kitchen opens onto a terrace with garden table and chairs for relaxing alfresco dining. A cosy, wood panelled sitting room with woodburner leads to a dining room with window seating area.  There’s a huge master bedroom suite with wrap around balcony overlooking the sea, en suite shower room and mezzanine floor with sofa and TV, a perfect hideaway if the children are getting too raucous. There’s a single bedroom adjoining the master suite as well as three further bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The pretty village of East Prawle is a mile away, back along the lane and has a welcoming pub as well as a seasonal cafe and shop. For those who want to explore, historic Dartmouth, the sailing Mecca of Salcombe and dramatic Dartmoor are within easy driving distance, but this house is all about the location, the views, the walks, the sounds of the sea and the peace and quiet.  Isn’t that what a holiday’s all about?

Traditional kitchen looking out over the garden with electric range cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher.  Panelled sitting room with 3 sofas surrounding a woodburner stove, 40 inch TV, DVD and Bluetooth speaker. Adjacent dining room with table and seating for 10 as well as a raised window seating area. First floor. Master suite. Huge light and airy master bedroom with 5ft four poster bed and patio doors opening onto a surrounding balcony with stunning seas views. This room is accessed via separate stairway from entrance lobby or through adjoining single bedroom with 3ft day bed. En suite shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. Narrow stairs to mezzanine floor overlooking the bedroom with sofa and TV for playing DVD’s.
Bedroom 2 with 4ft 6 in double bed and sea views. Family bathroom with bath, shower over, hand basin and WC. Stairs to second floor. Bedroom 3 with two 3ft link beds (can be configured either as a super king or two singles, please specify when booking) and sea views. Bedroom 4with two 3ft single beds. Bathroom with bath, hand basin and WC.

Covered patio with garden table and chairs, loungers and barbecue extends to a sloping garden with amazing coastal and sea views. Rear entrance courtyard.
Please Note that an upper garden is fenced off and not to be used as there are drops to the courtyard.

Parking for one car in designated parking space plus additional visitors parking, subject to availability.

  • Included: Bed linen, towels, (guests must provide their own beach towels) electricity, gas central heating and complimentary basket of logs in winter. High chair and travel cot.
  • Telephone for incoming and local calls with honesty box. No mobile reception.
  • Wi-Fi.
  • Pets: Two well behaved dogs welcome. Pet charge £25.00 per pet per week.
  • Local Facilities: Sandy beaches at East Portlemouth 2.5 miles. Horsley Cove half mile walk. Pigs Nose pub and Piglet cafe and shop (open March to end of October) 1 mile.  Kingsbridge or Dartmouth with all facilities 10 miles.

We all thought the house was absolutely beautiful, and was located in the most marvellous position overlooking the sea. It accommodated the seven of us really easily, and was a joy to stay in for the week.

We were blown away by The Station Offices House and have all fallen in love with it! The location, the rooms, the great kitchen facilities, and the views to die for! Even our teenagers want to go back! Almost inclined to not say anything and keep it a secret! Toad Hall and Mermaid Property Management have all been fantastic, a pleasure to deal with, the quality goodie bags for the dogs and the children were just the icing on the cake! Thank you so much!
