Set back from the pretty lane that winds down to Bantham beach, one of Devon's most popular surfing destinations, The Wilderness, a large four bedroomed property is at one end of an attractive group of barn conversions, with far reaching views across the beautiful Devonshire countryside. Thoughtfully presented to a high standard in a fresh, contemporary style, accommodation is arranged on three floors with bedrooms above and below the large ground level living room and kitchen, and sleeps up to seven, plus there is an additional truckle bed for occasional use. The Wilderness, named after the wild flowering garden which used to surround it, provides a comfortable and superbly placed base for families or groups of friends wishing to enjoy a prime South Hams location.

Please Note: The rear lawned garden is fully enclosed. Outside of this, young children should be supervised as there are low walls in places and steps that could be a hazard.

Ground floor open plan living area: Lounge with sofas and armchairs, flat screen TV and DVD, bookshelves with books and games. Dining area to seat eight.  Kitchen with electric hob, oven, microwave, integrated fridge plus a secondary fridge, dishwasher. Cloakroomand door to rear fully enclosed garden.  Open tread stairs lead to first floor:  Bedroom 1:Master bedroom with 5ft king size bed with wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bedroom 2: Twin 3ft single beds, chest of drawers and hanging hooks.  Bathroom, shower over bath, basin and WC. Lower ground floor. Bedroom 3: Twin 3ft single beds with built in wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bedroom 4: Single bedroom: 3ft single bed with occasional use pull-out truckle bed beneath, chest of drawers and built in wardrobes. Bathroom with shower over bath, basin and WC. Lower entrance hall/ boot roomwith washing machine, freezer and butler’s sink.

Fully enclosed area of garden to rear with garden furniture, barbecue and fire pit. Sloping lawns, shrubs and hedges surround the property with steps leading down to the courtyard and parking area. 

Up to two designated parking spaces on courtyard at lower ground level. Further parking and space for boat/trailer on grass driveway.

The property was spacious and suited our family gathering. The option to bring our pet was great, we will consider next time. The garden was spacious and provided an excellent bbq opportunity. the fully equipped kitchen enabled family meals to be catered with all being able to be seated around a sizable table (important to us) The location is great for exploring nearby places such as Brixham, Plymouth and the surrounding coast. Telephone help was on hand for a minor problem and the pre stay correspondence and information was excellent. We enjoyed it so much, we have already booked for next year, even although the price has gone up!

Directions and contact re key were very good. Lovely touch to have some milk and a cake waiting on arrival. Felt the cottage was in need of a thorough clean - we found cobwebs hanging from light fittings and noticed skirting boards hadn’t been hoovered/cleaned in a while plus backs of doors needed a good clean too. As the property had t been used the week before we came this was rather disappointing. Bedding was fresh and clean. Kitchen well equipped - crockery very high standard. Great enclosed garden for our dog. Fantastic pubs nearby to eat and lively beaches locally to explore. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return again.

We loved The Wilderness & will definitely be returning. The location is perfect being so close to the beach & in beautiful countryside & our children loved playing in the pretty garden. The cottage is comfortable, extremely well equipped and very spacious. It was lovely and clean on arrival with a delicious lemon drizzle cake for us to enjoy. Thank you for a lovely holiday!
