We were disappointed that it is no longer open.

June 2023

as guests of Apple court house the gardens were available for us to browse- however, one day we found out someone had opened the gats and entered the gardens for themselves arguing that they had driven from Devon. Wrong time of year to get the advantage of the beauty but could visualise the attraction

Good selection of healthy plants for sale.

Barton on Sea
(2 miles)

(2)

A stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out, and a great spot to do some fossil hunting. The cliffs are subject to considerable coastal erosion and at times parts of the beach can be cordoned off. The Beachcomber Café on the cliff top is one of the most popular cafés in the region. Plenty of parking in car parks along the cliff top as well as on-road parking.

A pleasant walk along the cliff top and along the beach. There was less cliff than last time we went to the New Forest.

June 2023

Super walk, nice and easy and great place for a meal or tea and cake by the car park.

April 2019

Highcliffe Beach
Highcliffe Beach
(3 miles)

Highcliffe beach, beneath the popular Cliffhanger Restaurant is a part sandy, part pebble beach. The beach has sloping access as well as steps down to the shore from the pay and display clifftop car park. To the east, Highcliffe beach towards Barton on Sea is a part sandy beach at the foot of the second most eroded cliff in England. This side of the beach is dog-friendly all year. However do check the tide times as high tide can make it difficult to walk along the beach.

To the west towards Highcliffe Castle beach, the promenade leads across the top of the small beaches inbetween the groynes with views across Christchurch Bay and Hengistbury Head. Groynes 4-8 have dog restrictions as does the promenade during the summer months, May-September.

Lovely sea walk within 15 minutes of the cottage.

March 2024

A lovely place to stay. So much to see and do locally and within easy reach.

August 2023

Milford on Sea is a very quintessential English village which has retained all its charm. The seafront is a delight to stroll along and The Needles Eye Cafe produces lovely coffee and lunches which is well worth a visit. A walk around Sturt Pond is also enjoyable and through to the village.

June 2023

Lovely quiet location for a beach walk. Great for watching the sea and waves without the crowds.

June 2023

Brilliant beach.

September 2022

Beautiful beach with views to The Isle of Wight. Good for swimming, picnics and walking. Very good car parking and public toilets. Lots of good places to eat and drink either next to the beach or in the village, a short walk away

July 2022

A proper gem. Great location for the new forest. The village is great and was only a short walk from our house. Not too busy or full of holiday makers. We will be back.

October 2021

One of my favourite places

July 2021

Good place to go if you have a buggy or wheelchair as there is a tarmac path along the top of the cliffs with great views of the Needles, plenty of parking and a kiosk serving refreshments.

September 2020

Lovely village with adequate shops on a very pretty green.

September 2019

Due to my husband breaking his leg we hired a mobility scooter for our holiday. It was a joy to ride along the front at Milford. Wonderful views of The Needles and lots of benches along the way too. Great access from the car parks. Would be great if the short path from Milford to Keyhaven could be the same good surface. We felt the rough stones would be too hard to ride on.

June 2019

Love Milford on Sea so old fashioned hasn't changed much since I use go as a child in the 1960/70s

April 2019

great walking area, small cafe-the needles, children climbing play park- crashing waves over stoned beach

March 2019

Great for a dog walk along the spit to Hurst Castle. Needles Eye cafe is a welcome break, quite good food but very busy and a bit basic.

December 2017

Fantastic sea location with goods pubs, shops etc

November 2017

Lovely village, plenty of shops and places to eat - no post office though.

Avon Beach
(4 miles)

(2)

A family friendly beach close to Mudeford and Christchurch Harbour with plenty to do for all.  For those with disabilities or small children there is a beach level carpark, and to keep everyone safe there is a designated bathing area and a seperate area allocated for watersports, all overseen by lifeguards in the summer months.  This pretty sand and shingle beach is backed by trees and countryside and if you fancy some fresh local seafood or simply a coffee, ice cream or a cold drink, the beach is home to the excellent Noisy Lobster, serving breakfast, lunch and supper all year round.

Nice beach with good facilities

April 2023

Beautiful beach, lots of sand for youngsters- definitely been high on our favourites list, for more than 30 years and still is now the 'children' are nearly 30! - well worth the drive from New Forest. The Noisy Lobster is great and now has an 'outdoor upstairs' too. The Beach Cafe, half-way along, is excellent too- used to do very good carrot cake! The connecting beach towards Steamer Point is dog-friendly all year which is a bonus. Walking to the quay end, you can catch the ferry to Hengistbury Head which is beautiful beach too and often quieter (top favourite!) Even this last week (JULY 2021) the 'kids' wanted to crab-fish from Mudeford Quay!!

August 2021

October 2023

Brilliant holiday. Great location, lovely house, great for grown up kids and the dog.. Parking good too. Train station being round corner was good.

October 2023

This was our second August Bank Holiday visit to 21. We had such a wonderful week! Immaculate and spotlessly clean, the house is so well situated for the beach and the New Forest. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

September 2023

We enjoyed our stay despite the weather. Enjoyed the quay and Priory in Christchurch. Had a very nice evening dinner at the Cliff House Restaurant in Barton on Sea, New Milton. Nice food and very good service. Had a very enjoyable visit to the RNLI headquarters in Pool (pre booked guided tour )

September 2023

We LOOOOVED IT. The property was even more then we expected. The location was SUPER and it was very quiet during the early mornings, evenings and nights

May 2023

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (second visit for my husband & I) & the weather was amazing. Ideally situated for accessing all the south coast has to offer. As the buses are currently only £2 for any journey (Government initiative), we used them regularly in & around New Milton, as cheaper than using our car that didn't move from the large driveway all week. En Route to the property, we stocked up on provisions from the local Tesco Superstore. The garden is lovely for relaxing in, late afternoon & dog safe. Walked to Barton on Sea, Milford on Sea, Lower Pennington & Keyhaven, stopping at various pubs. We love The Cave at Milford on Sea, where we shared a cheese & meat platter & a bottle of wine. If you visit The Indian restaurant in New Milton, you need to take your own alcohol & they don't charge corkage - the food was excellent. The highlight of the holiday was visiting Exbury Gardens where the Rhododendrons were in full bloom & the Wisteria was stunning. The cake, milk & Prosecco were a lovely touch - thank you. We hope to return to Twenty One again next year & I have recommended it to friends.

January 2023

We have just had a lovely, lazy holiday at 21: early morning dog walks on Barton cliff top, long leisurely lunches in the fabulous kitchen diner, with the winter sun pouring in, and a welcome snooze in front of the log burner in the afternoon. Bliss! The house is light, spacious and very comfortably furnished, in a quiet area, with walkable access to meadows and forest. New Milton has a range of tourist friendly shops, including a large and brand-new M&S food and a department store! We had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend the house to anyone looking for a relaxing break in the New Forest.

January 2023

Lovely spacious home, wonderful stay. The new forest team were great to deal with - thank you.

October 2022

Had a wonderful stay, the house is beautiful and so well equipped. The log burner was great. Plenty of space and a pleasure to stay in such a lovely place. Wonderful area and plenty to do. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a great holiday in New Milton.

September 2022

We have had a wonderful bank holiday weekend staying at number Twenty One. Such a beautiful house - light, spacious and relaxing. The location is perfect for the New Forest and the beautiful Barton and Boscombe beaches. We definitely plan to return and highly recommend the house.

September 2022

Had a fantastic stay . A beautiful home in a great location with a lovely enclosed garden for our dog Stanley

August 2022

We did enjoy our holiday. The information of the local area on the email and in the booklet was really handy. The property was of a high standard and felt spacious despite us having 6 people in the party. We would recommend that the bin bags were put out in the bin with the lid off as per neighbours as depite double bagging and knotting there was a mess after bin collection day which took some time to clear . I would unreservedly recommend this property for future guests.

July 2022

Twenty One was a perfect house for our stay. We'd happily return, and highly recommend it to other groups. The rooms are light and spacious with bifold doors to the back garden which was sunny and also provided shade to eat outdoors. The property is beautifully furnished and equipped, and the drive offers easy parking for 4 cars. It's in a quiet location, a very short walk to the station and the town, and a short drive to lovely beaches.

July 2022

We have had a great week here at Twenty One and feel very relaxed. Lots of wonderful dog walks, on the coast and in the forest, and we loved the new M&S Food Hall, just around the corner. A stylish and comfortable home from home. Thanks very much.

July 2022

We loved staying here and we have and will recommend your house to our friends. Twenty One has a lovely south facing garden, a well-appointed and user-friendly kitchen and we all felt very comfortable. Despite the changeable weather, it has been a relaxing and memorable week.

July 2022

We brought our dog with us and Twenty One was totally PERFECT......a secure, enclosed garden - with the Meadow & the Copse (PERFECT places for dog walking) within a 2 minute walk of the front door. House was absolutely great. Special mention too to the book selection....a REALLY good variety which would suit ANY reader. Location - excellent for access to shops - and the New Forest.
