A luxurious, contemporary holiday home set within a private, gated community in a recently-converted clay dry - part of the UNESCO-listed Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.

7 The Nest is an exclusive, luxury newly-built property with superior furnishings. With the added benefit of outside space and private parking, this property offers all the ingredients for a perfect Cornish getaway.

The Nest now sits proudly elevated above Charlestown village centre and has been developed on the original site of The Lovering Dry, built in 1908 for the production of china clay. The dried clay was shovelled into a deep Linhay for storage and then transferred to the harbour and waiting ships via an underground tunnel. Many of these key features including the Grade II listed chimney are still evident today and have been incorporated into The Nest development.

Set in the very heart of Charlestown, with over a dozen fantastic eateries, various pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance, with the backdrop of the beautiful 18th century harbour; in fact Charlestown has become a popular location for food lovers. You can walk off your pub lunches with a hike on the extremely popular South West Coast Path which runs through St Austell Bay, encompassing the harbourside villages of Charlestown and Mevagissey,  The world famous Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are both just a short drive away, as are countless wonderful beaches to enjoy some sunbathing or water sports before returning to cosy up on the terrace to enjoy the last of the evening sun.

Entrance to hallway, leading to;
Living room with large sofa and two armchairs, smart TV and double doors opening onto the garden.
Kitchen/diner with high quality integrated appliances, electric hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, wine fridge, washing machine and microwave. Breakfast bar to seat two guests.
Dining area with table to seat six guests, bi-fold doors to courtyard garden.
Cloakroom with WC and basin.

First floor:
Bedroom 1 with zip and link beds (this will be made up as a double, please state if a twin is preferred) En suite with bath and shower over, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom 2 with 4'6 double bed, and en suite with shower, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom 3 with 4'6 double bed, juliet balcony overlooking courtyard, and en-suite with shower, WC and wash basin.

A rear paved courtyard with a large table and plenty of seating.  Iron steps up the the upper terrace, which is a real suntrap furnished with seating and a table.

Sunny, west facing front garden, mainly lawn, with a paved terrace adjacent to the French doors from the living area.

A holiday in Charlestown has it all, no matter what time of year you visit, from walking around the harbour where there was extensive filming of Poldark, to storm watching with stunning cliffside scenery.

Set on Cornwall’s sheltered south coast on the shores of St Austell Bay, this beautiful Georgian port remains unspoilt and holidaying here almost feels like you’ve travelled back in time. Here you can stay in elegant Georgian houses, ancient fishermen’s cottages and contemporary coastal homes, all just a short stroll from the sea. There is loads going on in the quaint port, but because there is no real village centre, it's well worth walking up the hill and down all the little alleyways so that you don't miss any of its lovely shops, galleries or cafes.

Start at Charlestown’s harbourside, where you’ll be welcomed by the towering masts and iconic sails of the village’s tall ships and a choice of places to eat and drink. Over the past few years, the village has become quite the foodie haven, and there's plenty of options from fresh seafood, steaks, pizza and breakfast to good old pub grub.

Move on to Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre to learn all about Cornish culture and the story of some of Britain’s quarter of a million wrecks beneath the sea. Housing ancient trinkets and coins recovered from historical ships including the Mary Rose and Henry VIII’s famous warship, children and historians alike will be fascinated by the maritime stories the museum has to tell.

Charlestown is perfectly placed for tramping the beautiful South West Coast Path that surrounds it. With Carlyon Bay, Polkerris and Pentewan all within walking distance, it’s a lovely spot to visit. A 15-minute drive brings you to the Eden Project or Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Whether you are after history or quiet base for sightseeing and beach hopping, Charlestown is the holiday destination for you.

Generous double garage for two cars opposite the house. Please note that this property can accept a maximum allowance of two cars.

Once a weighbridge the tiny Tallships Creamery produce wonderful home-made ice creams and sorbets using Cornish cream and local ingredients that are big on individuality and flavour.  Some of our favourites are the Captains Cream Tea, Sticky Fudge Frenzy or The Pursers Pear Sorbet, but frankly they’re all delicious!

Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre
(Less than a mile)

(1)

An all-weather attraction where children go free, Charlestown Shipwreck Centre takes you back two hundred years, when the area was a tiny fishing village with no harbour.  As trade boomed in nearby St Austell, it became clear that there was need for a proper harbour, and local businessman by the name of Charles Rashleigh set about making plans – hence the name (Charles’ town).  Today the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre charts the history of this corner of Cornwall, including the ship wrecks off the nearby coast.  There are trails, a visual audio theater, the RNLB Amelia which was last stationed at Scarborough, and a German armoured dress diving suit, which was used in the 1920/30's, amongst other pieces of history.  There’s also a Kids’ Corner and plenty to see and do for the whole family.

Interesting for those prepared to engage with the stories presented. Very informative guidebook with plenty to read. The upstairs restaurant was far from great (we just went in for a coffee which was... unpleasant). We would say to ignore the discount which comes with the museum entry ticket and try one of the nearby cafes instead.
