This beautiful area of Devon, a National Park, with sweeping open moorland, high tors, rivers that rush down over granite boulders down to deep wooded valleys, is loved by those who enjoy walking and riding. There are historic moorland towns and picturesque villages, secluded beauty spots and spectacular views and Beckaford Cottage, an attractive detached conversion, is no exception. Tucked on the side of a valley alongside the owner’s home, the cottage has lovely views across the valley to the moors beyond, is surrounded by 35 acres and has its own private drive and garden area. The famous and beautiful Becky Falls, which tumble 70 feet beneath a canopy of oaks, is within walking distance of the cottage. Beckaford is traditionally furnished and equipped and provides a most convenient base from which to explore this outstandingly beautiful area of Dartmoor.
Wood stairs lead up to the open plan living room with exposed scissor beams, picture windows with lovely views on both sides, sofa, two arm chairs, wood burner, flat screen TV, DVD, stereo/CD player, a selection of books and dining table to seat six. The bedrooms are on the ground floor. Double bedroomwith 4ft 6in bedstead and fitted cupboard. Twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin in vanity unit and WC.
There is a level area of lawn with table and chairs. Opposite the cottage, Charlie, Lorna and Bessie are the horsey residents in the stables. 35 acres surround the property, including five acres of woodland and direct access onto moorland. It is all part of a small working farm.

Beckaford was one of the best cottages we have stayed in - the barn has been converted to give a traditional feel with practical comfort. The views over Dartmoor were phenomenal and there were lots of country activities available nearby that weren't over commercialised. The owners were fantastic - friendly and caring but not intrusive.
Second visit - just as special as the first .......perfect.
Had a wonderful time. This is our second visit in approximately six months. We would have come sooner but this was the earliest available week. We plan to come back next year.
Very comfortable stay, with great views from property, and a good variety of walks from the cottage.
It was nice to return to Beckaford cottage after a couple of years to find everything was still just as lovely as our previous two times. Clare & Chris made us and the dogs feel very welcome. Thanks - Alan & Angela
Becka ford cottage is in the most stunning location. It provides everything you could need for a great holiday exploring the surrounding area or just relaxing at the cottage. Chris and Claire are wonderful hosts and made us very welcome in their lovely cottage. Extra touches like home backed cake, flowers and fruit on our arrival were just so thoughtful. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and hope to return there ourselves in the future.
Chris and Clare were very welcoming and our daughter was delighted to be allowed to help out a bit on the farm. The cottage was really cosy and was big enough to allow us to just chill out indoors one day - if you're a bookworm, you'll love it! There are also games and jigsaws available for traditional family entertainment as well as the usual TV, DVD and radio and excellent wifi for those who need their electronics on holiday. The location is perfect for a walk up onto Dartmoor and within easy reach by car of lots more Devon attractions, though you need to be careful driving on the narrow twisty country roads.
We think that this is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in if not the best.
Wonderful place to stay. We had a wonderful time walking and eating. Nearest shop is Ullacombe farm shop which sells just about anything you could want, just 2 miles away. Chris and Claire are a lovely friendly couple, very helpful.
Had a great time
A beautiful place with glorious view and ideally located for some great Dartmoor walks. We had a wonderful week at Beckaford Cottage and would love to stay here again on our next trip to Dartmoor.
After staying at Toad Hall Cottages in the past I can rest assured knowing my chosen cottage will be to the highest standard and very good price. Highly recommend.
Had a lovely holiday. Will definitely book with Toad Hall Cottages again. The cottage was lovely and the location superb. Cannot fault anything about the holiday at all. Thank you.
Well equipped, clean cottage in a beautiful location. We have enjoyed a fantastic week sea fishing in Salcombe, swimming in the sea at Bigbury, visiting the zoo at Paignton, and even managed a hack across the morrs
A lovely relaxing week. Beautiful views, lots of long walks and plenty of fresh air. Thanks so much, just what was needed.
A perfect homely cottage set in a stunning area. The owners were lovely, giving our son a wonderful opportunity to help feed the lambs, groom the horse and generally be part of such a friendly environment. The welcome pack of flowers, cake, fruit and tea was more than we had expected and delicious. Our son was also delighted to discover that the Easter bunny also lives on Dartmoor! I am sure we will visit again, thank you for a lovely holiday.
It is what it is - a lovely quaint cottage in the back end of Manaton on the top of Dartmoor. If you want the Ritz, and bustle, then go to London. If you want seclusion, in a house that fits within its environment, that is comfortable, warm, and cosy give it a try. Only uber-townies who can't live without dual carriageways and can't abide the countryside are likely to be disappointed.
Fantastic holiday. Perfect in every way
Agreat relaxing week, just what we both needed
Lovely Place. Spent a week there as a family with two adults and young children. Despite rainy weather keeping us inside at times we found the space was ample and the view from upstairs a delight. The hosts were helpful and courteous at all times, with a nice warm welcome. Plenty to do in the area. Many thanks
Beckaford Cottage is by far our favourite holiday cottage so far. Clare and Chris give you a wonderful welcome with a vase of flowers, a bowl of fruit, tea and cake and a pint of milk in the fridge. The fire is also made up ready for you to get cosy in the comfy settee. The location is fabulous - we love it there and plan to return many times.
My wife and I, plus the dogs, immediately feel at home at Beckaford. The living space is charming, comfortable and well equipped. The views from the cottage are stunning.
This cottage is brilliant the country side is beautiful, cottage is well furnished and equipped a real home from home, welcome from owners was very warm and friendly . Couldn't ask for more .
