Description

Great Rill Farm, surrounded on all sides by the glorious green rolling hills typical of this area, is home to Bramble Cottage.  Set in 85 acres of open countryside, the farm is home to a lake (unfenced) which makes it an ideal spot for a stroll.  A public footpath runs through the grounds and leads to a network of footpaths and bridleways, perfect for exploring.  A wild-flower meadow has been set aside especially so that canine companions may stretch their legs too!

This pretty converted barn with its high-raftered ceiling and wood-burning stove is situated only 3 miles from the small but thriving town of Bampton. This historic Charter town, which lies close to the Somerset border, is on the edge of the Exmoor National Park and is famous for its floral displays and the Charter Fair which is always last Thursday in October. Complete with 4 pubs, two grocery stores, a bakery, a butcher, greengrocers, pharmacy, post office, library, café, fish bar and even a beautiful homeware shop you should be able to find everything you need close by.

The barn is the perfect place to explore the coast and countryside - A 30-minute drive will take you to the harbour at Watchet and a further 15 minutes’ drive will land you at the sandy beach of Minehead!  For the keen cyclist, the West Country Way cycle route takes in Bampton and on into the Exmoor National Park, a unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland.

Front door to porch area with further door to the country-style kitchen, complete with electric free-standing cooker, washing machine (tumble drier in communal store room), fridge with ice box (further freezer in communal store room), microwave, kettle and toaster. Bathroom with WC, hand basin and bath with shower over. Two steps from the kitchen area to the lounge/diner with comfortable sofas, TV with DVD player, CD player with radio, and dining table and chairs to seat two. From the lounge area glazed doors open to the enclosed paved garden area. A wooden staircase leads to the bedroom (with 4ft 6 bed) in the gallery style ‘crog loft’, a traditional sleeping area situated away from the cooking hearth.

Accessed from both the parking area and directly from the lounge is a small enclosed patio adorned with flower border, pots and tubs and a small bistro style table and chairs and 2 loungers.

  • Included: Bed linen and towels (guests are required to provide their own beach towels). Electricity, water and gas central heating. One basket of logs. Extra bags can be purchased.
  • Telephone: No telephone. Mobile reception good with 4G signal. Please note there is no Wi-Fi.
  • Pets: One well-behaved dog welcome. Pet charge £25.00 per dog per week.
  • Local Facilities: Nearest shops, pubs and cafés: 3 miles in the small town of Bampton.
  • Regret no children or babies.
