Cornmill, a working Mill until the 1930’s with origins in the 17th Century, was totally refurbished into what is now an utterly gorgeous house. Set on its own in a glorious, peaceful valley and surrounded by wooded hills and meadows with Tor Brook meandering along the edge of the garden, this stunning property is very spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated. The owner is an interior designer with impeccable taste that is reflected in every room with artefacts, pictures, fittings and superb furniture creating an extremely stylish and comfortable home set in lovely surroundings and only 3 miles from Kingsbridge in the very heart of the South Hams. What more could you want!

Front door into large hallway. The entire ground floor has flag stone flooring. Spacious most attractive sitting room, under a low ceiling with rugs, large sofas, chairs, large open fireplace, satellite TV with freeview package DVD/video and pretty windows overlooking the gardens. From this room is a door to a games room, with table football, chairs and CD player. Another door opens into a snug with chair, footstool and desk. The very spacious kitchen/dining room has pitched ceiling with exposed beams, is very bright and airy with two sets of double French windows opening to the garden terrace, a wonderful room for large family groups. Dining table to seat 12. Stereo/CD player. Fitted range of cupboards, Belfast sink, double oven Aga with 2 hot plates, electric hob and built-in oven, dishwasher and 2 larder fridges. Utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, large fridge/freezer, microwave and stable door to the garden. Downstairs WC with basin.

From the hallway are open-sided stone stairs (no hand rail) to the landing and carpeted bedrooms. Two bunk bedrooms, both with full size 3ft bunk beds, one with TV. Two most attractive twin bedrooms (3ft beds), both with fitted cupboards and one with French window to patio area. Shower room with large power shower, basin and WC and a second shower room with power shower and basin. Two steps down to a further landing with separate WC and two gorgeous double bedrooms. Elegant master bedroom with fitted wardrobes, 4ft 6in bed, garden views from the windows and superb en-suite bathroom with free-standing, roll-top slipper bath, basin and WC. The second double room is equally attractive with 4ft 6in bed, fitted cupboards and en-suite bathroom with bath, hand-held shower attachment, basin and WC.

Sweeping, enclosed level lawns across the front of the house and a raised paved terrace area with garden chairs. The front lawn is edged by the stream that flows under a pretty hump-back bridge and is unfenced - children and toddlers must be supervised. Further area of level lawn for croquet (set provided). To the rear of the house is a patio area and lawn.

A five bar gate opens from a quiet country lane to the parking area with room for at least 4 cars.

Good stay and lovely, well-presented, maintained and equipped property. The only detracting factor was the exceptionally narrow lane with almost no passing places. Meeting any traffic coming in the opposite direction was far from enjoyable. I guess this won't be an issue for some guests of course...

Our return to Cornmill for a second week having visited in 2016 and something hopefully we'll be able to continue doing every couple of years. The property is stunning and suits us absolutely - we just love the house, grounds and location and also the furnishings and artwork. The house was perfectly clean and ready for us. Add to that the fabulous May weather we had, this was a perfect break bar a week being too short!

We all had a wonderful time and could hardly bear to leave. Apart from the house, which we loved , the garden and terrace were perfect for a family of very mixed ages ! The family have requested a return next summer and I would love to return with friends at some other time. We had a wonderful week staying at Cornmill and would return to the property or book another of your houses in the area . The garden was perfect for both the dogs and the humans as was the interior of the house .

The house was lovely , large enough to accomodate us, and a large dog, with plenty of room to spare. It was lovely seeing some personal pictures and photos. The weather was fantastic so we made good use of the garden and patio facilities. Thank you.

Wow wow wow , we have just spent a long weekend in this absolutely wonderful house. 11 ladies attended and found the house to be even better than the photos. Great areas for all of the party to spend time together, we were blessed with fab weather so the outside patio was fantastic, with evening spent in the big dining area and lounge. Would definitely return or advise as a great place to stay 😜😀😀

Fabulous cottage. Worked so well for a family get together. Beautiful location. The kids and dog loved the stream. The adults loved the kitchen/dining area. The new patio area is stunning.

We stayed as a party of 9 and loved every minute. Love the Aga, love the rooms, furniture, yard, blackberry picking, local nursery cafe, loved the lot. Only comment, it is difficult to find but we are Australian and can't believe they call these farm tracks roads!

Our second stay at Cornmill in 3 years. Fab property and location. Clearly loved and well maintained. Only issue was the state of ALL the windows. Filthy inside and out. Really spoilt the amazing views. Certainly wouldn't stop us staying again though.
