Goodwinds, a terraced Victorian seaside cottage presented in a pleasing contemporary seaside style, sits alongside the sea wall that protects the village of Torcross and enjoys glorious views to the front of Start Bay and Slapton Ley to the rear. The beach, just steps from the front door, is the western end of the golden three mile stretch of shingle that is Slapton Sands.  Flanked on one side by the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley, a national nature reserve, this beautiful area is a haven for naturalists, bird watchers, walkers and beach lovers alike. Kayaks can be rented from the beach, as well as other water sports equipment. After an energetic day on the beach or walking the Coastal Path take your ease from the comfort of this family home on the terrace and watch the ships on the horizon, or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sunshine on the raised decking, overlooking the Ley. Goodwinds is a comfortable property, bright and fresh and ideally situated for a wonderful beach-side holiday.

Front door into hallway. Large comfortable living room with fabulous sea views, polished wood floors and Victorian fireplaces throughout (not for use), comfortable sofas, TV with DVD, stereo CD/radio, and archway to the dining area with dining table and seating for 8. Smart fitted kitchenwith ceramic hob and electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, breakfast bar and stools. Downstairs WC with basin. Tiled conservatory with wicker chair and door to rear decking and enclosed courtyard garden. Stairs to first floor. Spacious double roomwith superking size bed and pull out truckle bed beneath suitable for a child, wonderful views. Bathroom with bath, basin and WC. Separate shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC and a Victorian fireplace! Stairs to 2nd floor. Twin room with 2ft 6in beds that can be clip linked to form a double and views over the Ley. Further double bedroom with sea views and king size bed. 

At the front of the cottage is a raised terrace area provided with picnic bench. To the rear is a courtyard enclosed by high double gates with parking for one car. Raised decking area provided with garden furniture.

Parking: Off-road for one car (all year), plus on road in marked bays for a second for which a ticket is provided (April to September). This also allows parking in many other South Hams council car parks.

  • Included: Bed linen (no towels), cot, high chair, stair gate, electricity and heating (night storage and convector).
  • Pets: Pets welcome. Pet charge £25.00 per pet per week.
  • Telephone: No telephone.
  • Local Facilities: Beach on the doorstep, pub, shops, cafés and P/O stores a short level walk.

The things mentioned above could not distract us from having a wonderful relaxing weeks holiday in this property with its superb location and wonderful views over Start Bay and Slapton Ley.

We have stayed at Goodwins several times and when James owned it the manuals for appliances were there just to check how to use e.g. dishwasher settings. Also would be good if there was a clip on the wall to fasten the stair gate to.

Sorry about the manuals, they are there somewhere, but we'll make certain they are accessible. We'll also look into the missing clip for the stair gate. Goodwinds is a great place to stay, so we trust you enjoyed your holiday and hope to see you back soon.

Torcross is an outstanding location, we've stayed in the village over several years and absolutely love it's beachside location and breathtaking vistas. Goodwinds is perfectly placed, you couldn't ask for a better or more picturesque position, being right on the seafront. What better way to spend a relaxing week than looking out over the water. The house is fantastically equipped, to a high, modern standard, making it a real home from home. Clean, fresh and obviously maintained to an impeccable standard. We will certainly look forward to staying there again in the very near future. We've used Toad Hall as our preferred holiday let company a couple of a times a year over the last few years, and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. They are completely customer orientated and can't do enough to support your booking and stay. Staff are incredibly accommodating and worthy of the praise others have similarly offered. Excellent company, excellent location, excellent property, 5 stars all around!
