This ancient small village is adjacent to the Axe River and estuary and nestles in a steep wooded valley surrounded by rural unspoilt countryside. The famous South West Coast Path lies on the edge of the parish and offers spectacular views across Lyme Bay and the Undercliff. The village is fortunate to have two excellent public houses; The Ship and The Harbour, offering a selection of locally sourced produce and local beers. The Axe Estuary Wetlands is just across the river and is well managed as a wildlife reserve. A large number of birds congregate to feed on the mud flats and salt marshes and these can be viewed at close quarters from one of many hides strategically located along the reserve.
Semi-detached, self-contained cottage all on one level. Open-plan living area with flatscreen 42inch TV/DVD, i-dock MP3 player, DAB radio, sofa and dining table. Yes very much. The cottage and the owners are both lovely. The cottage itself is very well situated for local amenities and attractions further afield. Excellent trip all around.
We certainly enjoyed our stay. It was ideal being so close to 2 dog friendly pubs that also served excellent food.
A lovely place to stay with friendly owners. Very clean and cosy. Dog friendly too. Only slight downside as a dog owner was no direct access to back garden. You have to go out the front door and in by side gate. Ok in summer but i stayed in October when it was pitch black . However that is my only criticism. I had a lovely week there.
We did enjoy our stay. The area is beautiful, and the cottage is well situated between two good pubs and in easy reach of lots to see and do.
Yes we enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage was within easy walking distance of Seaton and the other places we wanted to visit were all within easy reach. The cottage is also situate between 2 lovely pubs both of which had an excellent food and drink menu. We will definitely visit again.
