“Romantic destination” is a term that can be very overused, but here is one, we assure you, that will exceed all your expectations. Imagine arriving after a tedious journey and opening the door onto a spacious room with magnificent Georgian fireplace, limestone flooring, comfy and elegant furniture, off which is a modern well-equipped kitchen. You dump your bags in the huge double bedroom, glance at the tasteful bathroom as you return downstairs to light the fire, although the under floor heating means the room is already warm. You open a complimentary bottle of wine, get out your favourite book as you sink into the sofa, listening to the crackle of the fire and just enjoy being in somewhere special. And it is special. With direct access down to a beautiful creek and the foreshore of the Salcombe estuary, the site dates back to William the Conqueror and where you are staying is part of the Manor House, which was originally built in 1088. You are in the beautiful South Hams, halfway between Salcombe and Kingsbridge and within striking distance of golden sandy beaches, stunning coastline and wonderful scenic walks. Excellent inns and restaurants abound with so much else to do that a week is just not long enough. But hey, it’s certainly worth a try.
“In thirty years of renting holiday accommodation around Britain, South Manor Cottage is by far the best we have stayed in.” Brian and Julie.
“My husband brought me here as a surprise for my birthday!! It is the most amazing and romantic place I have ever been to! Beautiful cottage, beautiful countryside! He will have to drag me away kicking and screaming. Thank you. A truly MAGICAL place!!" Mark and Lucena

Enjoyed our stay very much. Cottage owners very welcoming and helpful.
South Manor cottage is tranquil, light and airy. After a day spent exploring the beaches and countryside of the South Hams, it was a comfort to return to its warm and welcoming interior. We did feel that the owners genuinely cared about their guests: the wine and biscuits on arrival were much appreciated by us, but so was the comfy bed, excellent shower and high standard of cleanliness. The location of South Manor offers something for everyone, gorgeous tea shops in Totnes and Kingsbridge, walks in outstanding countryside from the doorstep, a chance to explore deserted beaches reached by narrow green lanes, or just watching the birds swoop in front of the sitting room window as we drank a morning cuppa. We had a wonderful time.
Delightful cottage in peacful setting that exceeded all expectations, gentle walk to Collapit Creek and only a few minutes drive from Kingsbridge. Top of our list for a return visit. We will stay again.
Our week away was fantastic, just a shame it had to come to an end! Our hosts were lovely and the cottage could not have been better. We will definitely be back!
South Manor Cottage is by far the best cottage we have ever booked. We always choose four and five star properties, but this is a gem that has surpassed our expectations. This cottage offered everything we wanted: quality; location; comfort and space; warm friendly owners; facilities. The only thing missing was more time, which we certainly hope to find in the future.
The cottage couldn't have been better and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The cottage is spacious and beautifully decorated to a very high standard. The owners Paul & Geunor have obviously spared no expense on renovating this property, and the thoughtful touches such as providing wine, milk and homemade biscuits on arrival were very appreciated! The countryside location was very peaceful, but still easy to drive to nearby towns/beaches/attractions etc. Would highly recommend this property to discerning couples.
Cottages don't get better than this! Superbly equipped and furnished, the cottage is located in a beautiful, relaxing and quiet location. The owners give a warm and friendly welcome. They have spared no expense in establishing this cottage as the ideal holiday home to which visitors return time and again. Simply superb.
An exceptional cottage in a beautiful location. The owners have set the very highest standards in furnishing and equipping this fantastic property. Anyone staying here will not be disappointed. The guest book contains nothing but glowing reviews. You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome!! Quite simply, superb.
Fantastic location and the holiday let surpassed our expectations. The quality of all fittings was tof the highest standards and it also boasted a log burner. Approximately 1.5 miles to Kingsbridge via a steep hill. We look forward to returning.
South Manor Cottage is such a peaceful place to visit. It is better than a home from home, everything in the cottage is of the highest standard, and it is both warm and welcoming. A relaxing haven, and highly recommended
