St Kitts is a stylish, spacious and well equipped detached bungalow. Set in a secluded position in a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the village of Stokenham, it is just over a mile from the sweeping stretch of beach that is Slapton Sands. There follows a scenic coastal road with breathtaking views to Blackpool Sands, Strete, Stoke Fleming and on to the historic naval town of Dartmouth. The interior of St Kitts is light and airy, the centrepiece of which is the living room which boasts a vaulted ceiling and full length glass windows which open on two sides to the terrace and garden. This part of the house is south facing, so sunlight floods onto the decking and garden and into the large living area. Although suitable for larger parties, St Kitts can also comfortably accommodate two families of four. An excellent holiday base to explore this beautiful part of South Devon, with plenty to interest both younger and older generations.
A bottle of wine, tea and milk are included to welcome guests on arrival.
Please Note: Guests booking St Kitts in Low and Mid season are requested to confirm their linen requirements to Toad Hall Cottages in order that the correct number of beds in the appropriate bedrooms can be made up prior to arrival.

BBQ was appreciated. You may consider providing an outdoor table next to it so there is an area to put raw and cooked food. The BBQ has a couple of built in trays bit they are small. Would definitely recommend the property. However the slapton diversion made it really hard to get to Dartmouth and the surrounds. If the road is not fixed by next year we may not book here again. Solely due to the diversion
Had a lovely time. The main living space is light and airy and great for relaxing. Only downside is the noise from the road but only if the doors/windows were open.
Lovely bungalow and garden in a very good location, not far from all the places we wished to go down memory lane with our now grown up sons. Very good pub/restaurants within easy reach. We definitely intend to stay in this lovely property again.
The bottle of wine on arrival was a nice surprise thank you. The owner was very helpful when I had a question about the high chairs. Property had a high standard of cleanliness.
The property was clean, warm and very comfortable. The additional tv and dvd player in the master bedroom was much appreciated by our daughter! We would have not hesitation in recommending the property, and would stay there again when next visiting the area.
This was the second time of holidaying at St. kitts and once again it was a very enjoyable experience. This is a lovely property with good facilities and well located for exploring the South Hams.
All in all we had a fabulous holiday due to the weather being fantastic and of course the beautiful area of South Devon
Perfect week , despite the rain!!
Fantastic, well equipped bungalow - had everything we needed and more. Very clean, much appreciated welcome gifts, very helpful caretaker, which all made a very enjoyable stay. We look forward to returning to St Kitts.

Had a meal in the evening here on the day we arrived as it was close by and after the drive down was just the tonic. Nice atmosphere and great service. Food was good too!
We visited The Tradesmans arms many times during our stay at Stokely Barton, and what a great pub it is.Kath and her team make you feel so welcome, and provide just the right atmosphere that you want whenever you visit.
Visited for dinner. Food was delicious , staff were friendly and service was excellent. Made us very welcome. Will definitely return.
We went there about 3 times although only once to eat. Lovely pub and the Sunday lunch was very good indeed. Nice thing was they offer a small portion for Sunday lunch and as neither of us are huge eaters it was much appreciated and more than adequate at a very reasonable price. Very good atmosphere and very welcoming
Lovely pub atmosphere, and the food was outstanding! Make sure you book as people were turned away for lack of tables when we were there.
Very accommodating for our large party Excellent lunch.
We tried this pub on Sunday evening but the welcome was not very welcome and we only went there once. Food was OK but there was better in other pubs in the area.
An excellent pub we have used several times as a refreshment break mid-walk. Their sandwiches are very reasonably priced and delicious. Staff always friendly when we've visited and would recommend.
Have visited this pub for past two years and the food and service have always been excellent. High class and friendly establishment.

Excellent food. Sunday lunch was presented very well & served quickly. Evening food was just as good, with a fairly big menu.
Friendly, helpful staff, lovely food
We ate at this great pub several times and the welcome was very warm and the food and service was great.
Good food, nice setting.

What an absolute gem this is! We stayed in Kingsbridge for 2 weeks and ate here about 8 times. Wonderful food, lovely staff and the beer is excellent too. We are going to ring ahead next time we stay in the area and block book a table for every night!!

Stayed locally, and visited Stokely Farm shop a few times. Well stocked shop and a very nice eating area providing really nice food, especially their Sunday roast which is amazing !
Great fresh meat and bread.
we only found this shop two days before we left but went back twice as it was so good
We have had breakfast at the cafe on a few occasions, and always found these to be great quality and value for money. Lovely staff, too.
Nice breakfast and cafe
Very convenient.Good shop.Food O.K.but a bit basic
Great shop with lovely atmosphere and goods. A little pricey
Good feed. Friendly service
Great for a variety of food and great pizza and plants.
Great selection of local provisions and also home to South Hams Brewery with all beers available and reasonably prices Recommend a visit
LOvely but expensive
We love this place, probably popped in most days for delicious meat, cheese and treats. We don't eat out often as our dog is nervous around dogs that get too close so eating in can feel like a chore. But with lovely grub from a friendly shop, it becomes a treat. Plus it's supporting the local trade which is so important.
Always a favourite for breakfast and for stocking up on delicious things for our holidays in Torcross. The tractor provides seemingly endless fun for a toddler and the friendly staff are all lovely.
Excellent small cafe/pizza area, Number One, sells a good range of gifts, many garden related. The plants are healthy, well cared for and reasonable priced and the farm shop produce fresh and good selection. Pleasant helpful staff
One of our favourite must go to places. Great food, good setting (with places to play for the kids) and good little shop too).
A bright and airy restaurant steps from the beach at Torcross offering fish and chips, stone baked pizzas, burgers, salads and a children’s menu along with fresh coffee, tea and cakes served all day. All tables enjoy panoramic views over the water; there is a terrace to dine alfresco during summer and a cosy wood burner for cooler months. Dogs welcome.

Nice welcome including our dog. Excellent food, although we did have to wait 40 minutes - lunch time rush, ?. Would recommend.
It would be useful to have a menu with prices outside so people could decide if it was expensive as we did.
Lovely food, shame it didn’t stay open later than 5pm in the week.
Great Food and Drink, wish you were open more evenings, the sharing platters are great !!!
Fabulous food, great service !
Boat house food is really excellent.
Average food but quick service.
Very good fish and chips!
Lovely place to have a coffee and lunch. Really bright and welcoming. All the staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely and clean. Good value and a must to go to.
Excellent breakfast (although a bit dear!).
Had great takeaway fish & chips and sausage and chips in late September. Also a fantastic breakfast on the last day of our holiday. Great views of the sea one side and the Ley the other. Would recommend.
Lovely place for meals - expensive for family of 5 and very busy but food was good especially the pizzas. Staff very polite and helpful too.
Had a very nice meal here with my wife and daughters. The staff went out of their way to fulfil an unusual food order for picky kids. Some nice beers available too - a great way to spend an hour or so after a hard days walking.
Good environment but no wifi and a long wait for our orders.
Great place to eat and prices are great. Food is exceptional and we went a few times during our stay.
Love this place. Reasonably priced food. Great pizzas, nice fresh seafood and takeaway to enjoy on the beach. Really light and spacious interior too. Looks like it was quite recently refurbed.
Dittiscombe Equestrian Centre
As the self proclaimed ‘home of horse riding in the South Hams’, Dittiscombe Equestrian Centre offers horse riding lessons to everyone, whether they’re beginners or seasoned riders. Friendly and professional, they have an indoor school and an outdoor school so you can organise lessons whatever the weather, and you can borrow hats when you’re visiting as well if you don’t have your own. You can opt for private or group lessons, and there are toilets and changing facilities on site as well as plenty of parking. The school is two miles inland from Slapton Sands, so you can also combine your lesson with a trip to the historic D-Day training site and a wander along the beach if you fancy it!

Stunning views from here. Great walk along from the car park, very accessible for all levels of fitness. Visitor centre was closed when we arrived for refurbishment at the end of the season but still worth the walk.
Had a really interesting tour at the end of September, which was the highlight of our holiday. Out guide, Mary, was very friendly and informative. Would highly recommend this. Fantastic location and views and very interesting history. Thanks Mary.
We really enjoyed our visit. My husband and son had a tour (£5 per adult and under 5's free) and thought it was brilliant. Children under 1.1m's tall can not go on the tour so my younger son and I enjoyed the coastal views which were fantastic.
Fantastic walk with wonderful views, you'll find the best beach in the South Hams hear, bit of a walk but it is glorious.
If the weather’s right, Stand Up Paddleboarding is a wonderful way to really embrace the beautiful environment in the South Hams. Based in Kingsbridge Waterborn SUP offers lessons, board hire and a genuinely enthusiastic introduction to the variation on surfing whether you’re a pro or a beginner. They supply high quality equipment and tuition, whilst benefiting from a pretty spectacular learning environment. Fantastic early morning session with Crispin - got us two oldies up on our feet paddling around the Kingsbridge estuary - what a fabulous way to start the day. Five star - would like to do it again.
Very enjoyable - will definitely do it again. Crispin was very helpful.
Thank you Crispin for a fab family lesson introducing us and our 3 girls to paddle boarding

A decent enough café, with reasonable coffee and a pleasant ambience, alongside a local art gallery with (when we visited) an eclectic mix of art and artifacts. And if you're into yoga, my guess is that any type of yoga you can imagine is available here. If the weather's nice, the rear courtyard garden is quite pleasant, too.
A long stretch of beach with spectacular views of the sea stretching into the distance, Slapton Sands is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and for good reason. Adjacent to Slapton Ley, a freshwater lake that’s home to an abundance of wildlife and one of the many reasons people come to visit the area, the beach has a history of welcoming families in the summer for long days in the sunshine, building sandcastles, surfing, windsurfing and kayaking. It’s amazing to believe that this peaceful corner of South Devon has its place in military history as in 1943 the beach was taken over by allied forces to use as a rehearsal area for the D-Day landings. However, live ammunition and poor visibility ended in the deaths of more than 700 servicemen, so today there is a stone monument in place for Operation Tiger, as it was called, as well as a Sherman Tank at nearby Torcross. On a more current note, there is a beachside café at Slapton Sands for teas, coffees and other light bites, and there are also toilets nearby. The beach has disabled access, and also allows dogs throughout the year, so it really is fun for everyone and very easy to get to. There is parking nearby and in the summer months from May to September there is lifeguard cover. Last, but not least, a small collection of pubs reside in Torcross for those who are feeling peckish after a long day in the fresh air, or if you have been for a nice walk along the sand!

If you love the sound of the waves on pebbles this has to be one of the best beaches in the world !
A totally unspoilt stretch of beach with wild flowers and wonderfully coloured rocks. We were lucky to be staying on a stones throw away and spent a few happy hours there with our dog watching the locals beach fishing in the evenings - bliss!
Lovely walking -
Lovely walk for wild flowers, bird watching sea views
Clean beach.No plastic.
This is certainly a lovely beach and so little rubbish.
Really interesting area and good walks along the coast and by the Ley. Generous provision of toilets and parking and a number of places to eat. Would particularly recommend The Start Bay Inn, The Boathouse and Seabreeze Cafe at Torcross. Also very handy that there is a bus should you want to walk one way and get a bus back. Very beautiful and peaceful.
Beautiful beach right across from our Cottage
Wonderful nature reserve with well signposted walks.
Beautiful stretch of shingle beach - dogs allowed all year. Not many facilities - we went to the Strete end of the beach as there is a great little coffee hut there - great coffee and friendly staff.
Clapton Sands is beautiful. The rocks are the most beautiful colours, wild flowers abound on the beach, the views in either direction are stunning and it is rarely over crowded. One of the most wonderful areas in the U.K.
Great place for a walk along the beach and had some great events for children at Easter. Great fish and chips in the pub at the end on Torcross

I've been coming to Beesands since I was 2 years old (61 now!). Not every year since adulthood but still can't stay away. Its an ideal location for those who want to get away from it all. Its close enough to Kingsbridge and within easy reach of Dartmouth , Salcombe and Brixham. The locals are very friendly and will always be up for a chat. Its almost tempting to keep this little coastal secret to myself!
Bit scary driving down to the beach due to the narrow road but worth it when you got there. Had fish and chips and ate them on the tables that were provided while looking out to sea.
Had a wonderful meal in the beach cafe .
We've been coming to this general area for over 20 years now and have stayed in many of the surrounding villages . This was the first time we'd stayed in Beesands - but we had walked through it on our coastal walks on many, many occasions. We both loved the peaceful charm of the place - secluded , tranquil and away from it all . But unlike Hallsands (next village along) , it does have two places where you can eat ( The cricket Inn and the Britannia0)and they are both very good . The beach is great - shingle - but really uncrowded in June . ( We were lucky with the weather) and on a clear, sunny day - it is quite magical. ( What a shame the water is so freezing cold !!) This stretch of coastline is stunning - and even if you do no other walks - walk over to Hallsands and read about the old village that was washed away in January 1917 - or just drink in the stunning views . I love this part of Devon and it never fails to take my breath away when you stand on the coast path near the lighthouse and look back across Start Bay to Hallsands , Beesands , Torr Cross , and over towards Dartmouth. Wonderful.
Beautiful stoney beach with views of Start Point Lighthouse. Tasty fish and chips available, popular pub and public toilets.
Lovely place, good food and very dog friendly :-)
Britannia Fish - Great fish - always fresh and lovely family run business. A must for anyone who likes eating good fish!
Ideal for quiet and peaceful holiday with two good restaurants both of which are dog friendly.
Between Dartmouth and Slapton, Blackpool Sands is a beautiful shingle bay on the South West Coast Path, surrounded by evergreens and pine trees. It really is a treasure of a beach to visit while you’re in the area. Award-winning, the privately owned, blue flag beach boasts a sense of being in the Mediterranean on a good day in the summer, although a good jumper never goes amiss in this part of the world! You will no doubt not be surprised to hear that it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however it also boasts ample facilities and things to do. There are showers, toilets and disabled facilities, as well as paddle board, kayak and wetsuit hire available for those wishing to earn their visit to The Venus Beach Café, where light bites and refreshments are served. The Venus Shop also sells all the bits and pieces you might want for fun and games on the beach if you have forgotten them or are in need of extra buckets and spades. The water at Blackpool Sands is known for being clean and clear and tested by the Environment Agency, and lifeguards are on hand in the summer (July to September) so there’s every reason to pop in for a dip. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach in the high season (12th March to 30th October) so keep the walking for the cooler months. There is parking available at the beach with seasonal charges, and you can find out more information on those from the Blackpool Sands information line on 01803 771800. This beach is easy to get to and quite literally fun and games for the whole family, as well as a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to take in the view!

Parking charge between £3 - £8 depending on time of year, Also food good but e.g. Hawaiian Prawns (£9) consisted of 5 prawns. Not good value for money.
Lovely beach, not sandy but the stones are okay. Good food, beverages, coast guards, Nice view and not so cowded
Lovely clean beach in super location along coastal road. Great place to visit.
Beautiful clean beach with excellent facilities.Clean toilets lovely cafe and shop.Lifeguard on the beach. No dogs allowed.Plenty of parking. We enjoyed rock pooling at the far end of the beach. The owner does a great job.You can also visit Blackpool Sands garden but we did not have time. Also a juggler was there on the day we went great fun for everyone.
Beautiful location but shame it a shingle beach and not sandy. Also very disappointed with the £8 fee to park the car .
Perfect venue for a sunny day! Secluded beach which is clean and tidy, with a cafe, snack bar and shop, beach equipment hire too
The cost of the parking steep
Our family 's favourite beach
Stunning beach, and you can get takeaway cream tea from the cafe to have on the beach!!

Gorgeous beach, but be careful if you have a dog that likes to run as our Border Collie got very sore paws on the pebbles.

A bit of a walk down from the car park but so worth it, arguably the best beach in the South Hams
