Thatch Cottage is a beautifully renovated and traditional country home in the heart of the village of Powerstock, just a short distance from the coast at West Bay. The cottage has retained many traditional features from its past and is well placed to explore this part of West Dorset and its area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This tasteful property resides in a picturesque location, near the church and local Inn. It has a cottage garden with a paved and gravel path that leads to a patio terrace which enjoys sunshine most of the day. Well equipped with three bedrooms, a modern kitchen and bathroom, cosy lounge with separate diner.
Powerstock is in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with wonderful walks up to Eggardon Hill Fort above the village. The popular beach of West Bay is only 5 miles away on the Jurassic Coast and there are other attractions close by to suit all tastes including the Sub Tropical Gardens of Abbotsbury, fishing trips, fossil hunting at Charmouth, horse riding and much more. The Three Horseshoes and The Marquis of Lorne offers good Dorset food, within walking distance of the cottage.

Rear door access to Kitchen, equipped with Smeg Double Range oven and ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher (due to be fitted Spring 2019), tall fridge freezer and washing machine. Doorway to a separate Dining room with table and chairs to seat six guests. Door to Living room with Inglenook fireplace, flame effect instant electric fire, two 2-seater sofas, armchair and Flat screen TV. On the ground floor is also a Family bathroom with a free standing claw feet bath and mixer taps, separate shower, W.C. and washbasin. Stairs to Bedroom 1 with 4ft 6inch double bed. Bedroom 2 with twin 3ft beds. Bedroom 3 with single 3ft bed.
Please Note: First floor access is via wide stairs with a bannister on each side for support, but the steps are shallow in tread. If guests have mobility issues we advise phoning the booking office for more information. There is also varying steps inside the property.
The cottage garden leads slightly downhill to a Terrace and Patio area with high quality wooden table and benches. This garden is bounded by newly planted trees for added privacy and adjoins the pretty Victorian First school. The garden is partially enclosed.

Lovely stay in well equipped cottage, just did not like the location of the cottage. Would use Toad Hall cottages again
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was perfect and the welcoming touches (Dorset apple cake, flowers and a pint of milk) were much appreciated. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage and garden but also spent a lot of time exploring the area: West Bay, Lyme Regis, Burton Bradstock, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Abbotsbury Swannery. A great holiday with perfect weather!
