Meadow View Cottage is a most charming Grade II listed property set in the heart of the unspoilt waterside village of Dittisham, located on a tranquil meander of the River Dart between Totnes and Dartmouth in the South Hams. Tastefully and stylishly refurbished with a welcoming and bright nautical decoration, this comfortable cottage boasts freshly painted beams, a large inglenook fireplace with open fire as well as deceptively spacious accommodation with views over the glistening River Dart from the upper bedrooms and garden. The large ‘meadow’ garden to the rear of the property is an amazing feature and the elevated views over the village and river from the summer house won’t fail to impress.
Dittisham is a haven for those who love messing around in boats. A short walk down the lane leads to The Ferry Boat Inn, a popular waterside pub and the pontoon where children enjoy ‘crabbing’ and the river ferry can be summoned by ringing a bell for trips across to the NT house of Greenway, Agatha Christie’s former home. Pedestrian ferries ply the river between Totnes upstream and Dartmouth at the mouth of the river and there are footpaths for scenic riverside walks on both sides of the river. This delightful cottage is a real treat for both couples and families alike and its favourable village location makes it an ideal holiday at any time of year.
Please Note: Although this cottage does not permit dogs, those suffering from allergies need to know that the owner and family occassionally visit with their dogs.
Front door into entrance porch which opens into a gorgeous large beamed living room with a feature inglenook fireplace with an open fire hearth and is comfortably furnished with two large sofas, two arm chairs as well as a wall mounted TV and DVD player. Three steps lead into the dining kitchen. The bespoke wooden kitchen with granite worktops is extremely well equipped with an electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and separate fridge and freezer. The dining area comfortably seats six. A few more steps lead into a light and airy conservatorywhich is furnished with a sofa and double doors lead out to the rear terrace and the garden beyond. Just off the lounge and at the base of the stairs is a single bedroom furnished with a 3ft bed, open hanging and a bedside table. First floor, the master double bedroom boasts two windows looking towards the River Dart and is furnished with a 5ft king bed, chest of drawers and built-in wardrobe. En suite bathroom with bath with shower attachment over, wash basin and WC. Family bathroom with three quarter size bath with shower attachment over, wash basin and WC. Second floor, double attic bedroom with a 4ft 6inch double bed, open hanging rail and chest of drawers as well as two velux windows which boast long distance views over the village and River Dart as well as over the rear garden. Please note that due to apex ceiling and exposed beams , head height is limited at each side of the bed.
A small enclosed garden to the front is predominately laid to lawn with a shrub and hedge border.
At the rear of the cottage there is a stone paved patio with patio table and chairs. Steps rise to the expansive meadow garden which is laid to grass and is sloping. A decked area is located half way up the garden and towards the top is a summerhouse with a further decked area with a table, chairs and a barbecue – a perfect spot to while away the day and enjoy the stunning river views.
On street parking may be available outside the cottage with additional parking within village car park which is a few minutes’ walk away. Please note the village car park is pay and display.
Included: Bed linen, towels (please provide your own beach towels), WiFi, travel cot, high chair, stair gate, electricity and central heating (oil).
Dogs: We regret that no dogs are allowed, but allergy sufferers please note that the owners may bring their dogs to stay.

Golf and spa at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club 4 miles. Supermarkets and wider selection of facilities in Dartmouth 7 miles. Nearest beach at Blackpool Sands 6 miles.

We did enjoy our stay as Meadow View as comfortable cottage in one of our favourite villages. The little extras mentioned would have made all the difference. Disappointing no wifi available as well.

Such a beautiful, spacious cottage - we had a very chilled time there. The stunning meadow garden up to the summer house at the top was such a bonus and having lunch up at the top of the garden with the unbelievable views over the Dart and Greenway was magical!
