Description

Nestled in the heart of the popular South Devon village of Slapton and a pleasant walk from the sea and beach that curves around to Torcross , Olive House offers comfortable accommodation for larger or smaller parties in a period property with plenty of charm. There’s a large sitting room with wood burning stove opening into an attractive dining room. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and the owners have cleverly converted a basement room into a cosy double bedroom and en suite with wall mounted smart TV, DVD player and X Box, providing a perfect place for the kids or even adults to have a separate entertainment space.

The pretty village of Slapton has two welcoming pubs, one with a fine restaurant, and a village store. There are plenty of country walks to enjoy, including the trails around the extraordinary fresh water lagoon of Slapton Ley situated behind Slapton Sands. If you like the beach, there are plenty of others within easy driving distance.  The coast around here is beautiful and you can take full advantage by walking along the South West Coastal path. Alternatively spend lazy days wandering around the interesting shops in Dartmouth, Totnes or Kingsbridge, towns all well worth visiting.  Devon has a great deal to offer the visitor and Olive House is a perfect base for a wonderful holiday.

Smart TV with DVD and Sky digital. Dining room with table to seat 8, dresser and window overlooking rear garden. Kitchen with hob, dual oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and Nespresso machine. Utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. Downstairs cloakroomwith WC and hand basin. First floor. Master bedroom with 5ft bed and en suite shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. Twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds and hand basin. Double bedroom with 4ft 6in bed and hand basin. Family shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. Family bathroom with bath, shower over hand basin and WC. From boot room stairs down to double bedroom with two 2ft 6in zip link beds (can be arranged as double), smart TV with separate Sky Digital, DVD and X Box. En suite shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC.

From utility room access to private enclosed rear patio with garden table and chairs. Small area of lawn with garden seating.

No designated parking, but parking for two cars normally available outside the house. Alternative parking can usually be found within the village. There is also a “Park and Walk” area close to the house.

Torcross with excellent pub, Boathouse restaurant, Sea breeze cafe, local shop and butcher 1½ miles. Stokeley Farm Shop 2 miles. Kingsbridge and Dartmouth with all facilities, both 6 miles.

We enjoyed our stay but the parking was an issue, especially on arrival and departure. I appreciate there is not much that can be done about this.

Really enjoyed our recent stay, we are regular visitors to Slapton. We love the area as there is so much to do and visit. Queens Arms really great and they made us feel welcome as always, good food, drinks and a lovely garden area....Jail Ale highly recommended.

Brilliant cottage and location. I think that the owner has presented the cottage superbly and has been extremely fair in discounting for smaller parties out of season. The holiday was the best I've had in years ,helped by the lovely weather. Can't thank you enough.

Superb comfortable property which is in a stunning location. Plenty of very good local pubs, lovely walks and very handy for Dartmouth with its diversity of shops and eateries. Hope to book again in 2017.

Olive house is a beautiful home with so much space and everything you could possibly need. The village is quiet but has a shop and a pub and the walks from the village round the nature reserve are lovely. The bed was so comfortable (despite me being heavily pregnant I slept amazingly!!) Thank you for an amazing holiday!

Olive house great location albeit quite a trek from main road along narrow devon roads . Parking tricky if more than two. families but one car can park outside the property . House fantastic well equipped clean and tidy . Beach 15 minute walk can be a little hilly on the way back but easily done if reasonably fit . Amenities of surrounding area perfect loads of local pubs doing great local food inc fresh fish . Would return without doubt .

The property was a credit to the owner and caretaker. It was extremely well equipped with high quality furnishings and very comfortable throughout. Some may find parking an issue, although I'm sure this is often the case in Devon villages, but we had no problem parking outside the property. There is a village car park opposite the campsite which could be used as and when necessary. The village is lovely with a very useful shop and the locals very friendly. In the evening it was very pleasant to stroll round the village and call at each of the two pubs which were both excellent. It was lovely to stay in such a delightful cottage that accepted dogs and the surrounding area is very dog friendly. Please pass our thanks on to both the owner and caretaker.
